Her Life

In Loving Memory

March 30, 2021
Laura Dickerson Sherwood, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, died Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Oaks Nursing Center in Burnet, Texas. Laura, lived a long life of 92 years before she passed on to be with The Lord.
Ms. Sherwood was born Laura Nona Dickerson on September 20, 1929 in Portland, Oregon to her parents,  Pruitt Lynn Dickerson and Bessie Irene France.  Laura was preceded in death by her father, Pruitt, her mother, Bessie,  her siblings, Lynn Dickerson, George Dickerson, Betty Dickerson, and her grandson, Thomas Ogden, Jr.
Laura spent most of her life in San Antonio, Texas where she worked for Pat Maloney, Sr. as a Paralegal and Bookkeeper for over 20 years, and had once taken an adventurous leap of faith and started her own accounting business.  She also enjoyed spending time at the Moose Lodge,  traveling to places like Acapulco with her friends, Las Vegas to see her oldest daughter,  and spending time with her children and grand children. Laura was also an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, and had two life life long pets that she loved dearly and who also preceded her in death, her Siamese cat Holy, and her faithful cocker spaniel, Trooper. During her retirement and spare time, she also enjoyed volunteer work at a hospital.
Laura is survived by her three daughters, Lynne Louise Russell, Donna Elizabeth Sherwood, and Betty Marie Bejar. She is also survived by her grand children, Tracy Keller, Sherri Vogel, Kenneth Vogel, Jr., Jason Ogden, Sybil Cook, Kaitlyn Bejar, her brother, James Dickerson, and  several great grandchildren.
Laura Dickerson-Sherwood was known for being a lively person, zany, strong willed, tenacious, and a fighter to the very end. Laura passed away after a long battle with liver cancer, and with her grand daughter, Sherri by her side.  She loved her three girls dearly, was extremely proud of them, missed them terribly, and loved them more than they will ever know. Laura will be deeply missed and always remembered in our hearts.
Granny did not leave this earth quietly, she passed away at 1:28 am, the weather was loud, tumultuous, thunderous, and the sky was filled with lightning and a  tornado. It could not have been more beautiful and befitting.
