Aunt Laura I miss you so much but I know you are in a better place. I'm at UMD College Park now and I know you're watching over me and that you're proud. I love you and will always cherish the memories we shared and the help and support you provided my mom when she was raising me as a single mother. I love you and miss you! Please say hi to Grandpa and Grandma for me in heaven.

My sweet gentle sister, the words that express how much we miss you come hard. I keep reflecting on all the fun we had whenever you where around. I would give everything to have you here with us. We are so lucky to have had you in our lives.

We had a beautiful memorial service this past Saturday at Laura and Dennis' shop, Market Street Antiques, in downtown Apalachicola. The memorial was attended by neighbors, customers and vendors who worked in the shop, as well as family members all gave testament to what a gentle and loving soul Laura was and how she managed to operate the shop in a very professional yet caring way. They attested to the fact that Laura went above and beyond
what was required of a shop keeper and that they had never experienced that kind of caring concern from someone running a store. Examples ranged from her hanging pictures for someone who needed assistance doing that in their booth, or the fact that you could always count on being greeted by a beautiful and warm smile each time you came into the store. She told one of the vendors just last week that she was doing her "dream job" in operating this shop. We are grateful that she was able to enjoy this store so much and that she found such a supportive and appreciative community so quickly in Apalachicola. Thanks to all who attended the memorial it was heart warming for her family hear your comments.

Laura, Lucas and I are creating this for you as a way to share our love for you and allow your vast network of family and friends to honor you as you deserve. We don't know for sure, but I imagine you are looking
over our shoulders as this is begin created and added to. While there are no words to describe how hard it was for you to leave I am 100% certain that you very comfortable and are a very special angel there in heaven where you will continue to be "Johnny on the spot" for all of us left in this world. Lucas and I will continue our connections her in this
beautiful part of Florida that you have introduced us to and enjoy the nature here that you loved so much.

Laura was like sunshine. I will miss her infectious laugh, warm hugs, and wonderful, easy-going nature. It's comforting knowing that she's now with Beth-Ann and both are watching over and interceding for us. Laura is and remains so loved.

Gratitude

Laura shared so willingly of her time with so many people. Lucas and I can recount innumerable trips with her.  This was a trip to NH in 2008, where we all went horseback riding in Franconia, NH.

The bike ride....

March 30, 2015

In the days when we didn't appreciate what leisure really meant, Laura, Jeanne and I went on a weekend trip to Martha's Vineyard. What a gorgeous weekend, with few tourists and amazing beauty. We were so young then, but apparently not in very good shape. We got the idea that we would bike across the island so out we set in the morning. We traveled from Edgartown towards Gay Head, I believe. Anyway, we had a fabulous time riding out westward on the island. When we could go no further we turned around and headed back, but boy oh boy were we fatigued! Our poor muscles could push no farther, so we got as far as the airport and hailed a station wagon taxi that could accomomdate three bikes and this is how we got back to our bed and breakfast. So there you have it..those Serafin girls were always up for beauty and adventure. I am so glad that I got to tag along and get to know Laura. What an angel she is.
