Laura Taylor Ricketson, 67, of Oxford departed her earthly life on May 14, 2015. She was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC, living there until her family moved to Oxford in the late 1950’s. Laura graduated from J.F. Webb High School in 1966.
She was a devoted wife and doting big sister. Laura possessed a warm and caring spirit which manifested itself throughout her life, evidenced by her notes and cards sent to those she loved to mark the recipient’s special life event or simply to let them know she was thinking of them. The recipient would know without question the sender was Laura merely by recognizing her unique style of handwriting on the envelope. She touched many lives in her unique way, doing so without fanfare or pretense. Truly, Laura had a servant’s heart.
Laura was pre-deceased by her parents, James and Marjorie Taylor, and younger brother Ben. She is survived at home by her loving husband of 31 years, Don, and brother, John Taylor and sister-in-law Meg Taylor of Raleigh.
Don and Laura were owners of Decorator Fabric Outlet on Linden Ave., Oxford for 25 years until they retired in 2009. During her retirement years she and Don divided their time between Oxford and North Myrtle Beach, SC.
The burial office will be read at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Oxford by the Rev. James L. Pahl, Jr. on Thursday, May 21st at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park, Highway 15 North, Oxford. Eakes Funeral Home is assisting the family.
