I meet Dr. Lawrence C. Awasom in GBHS Mbengwi back in 1980 where he thought me European History. He first introduced and described himself as, " A Lanky Fellow with a Hungry Look , Suffering from an Aqueous Atmosphere"
Dr. Awasom was a true Gentleman , with high standards for professional ethics. a dedicated Lecturer who was always on time and never missed a lesson.
PA Awasom , God will open the Gates of Heaven for you so that you you will continue your services of love of Mankind and Humanitarianism till we meet again.
To the family , have courage for it is only God who gives and is only him who takes. Accept our condolences.
Dr. Awasom, on behalf of the Class of 82. GBHS Mbengwi, May your soul RIP.

. Dr. Awasom became a dear friend as well as an esteemed faculty member. His concern for his students was well known, and they adored him. As he liked to say, he was a living example of Anthropology. His kindness, generosity, humbleness, smile, friendliness, thoughtfulness, and responsiveness were legendary and he is sorely missed. Tomi

Dr. Lawrence Awasom dedicated over 20 years of professional service to educating and inspiring his students and colleagues at Houston Community College. All of us who were fortunate to know Dr. Awasom knew that he was one of a kind - he had an enviable zest for life, a passion for teaching and his students, and a charming and unique personality that lit up any room he entered. Students often spoke of Dr. Awasom in glowing terms, commenting on his gifts of being able to relate to them as people, in storytelling, and in bringing Anthropology to life for them. Those of us who worked with Dr. Awasom knew him to be a true gentleman, and a kind-hearted, compassionate, loyal, team-oriented colleague. Our department (of Anthropology and Geography) was enriched by his presence. While his legacy will always remain, he is and will continue to be sorely missed.
