"Everytime"

Everytime I hear your name being called,I hope that you answer. Everytime I make a wish, it's wishing you were still here. Everytime the memories play back...you're among the best of them. Everytime your song plays, I imagine you singing along. And everytime your birthday comes, I fight the tears that wanna fall.

To my aunt, my aunty mommy, my best friend and my comforter. I love and miss you, I think about you everyday. The hardest thing I had to ever do in life is live without you. I know you are with God in peace. I hope my love was enough and I pray that you knew how much I love you. I love you in this lifetime and next the one. Happy birthday my love.

The Anniversary of My Sister's Death

Some people like to celebrate
nice things from year to year.
This year I'll celebrate
my sister's death with tears.
Another year has passed
since she left my side.
The gaping wound still vast
on the anniversary of her death.

When I feel mistreated or defeated,I think of her advice: "You ain't no quitter juice...you gotta fight!" When things didn't go my way,I remember she used to tell me: "Pray!" Times when I was hungry or low or funds,her generosity was famous and her influence strong. Ironically enough,I still can't believe she's gone....

Through blackest day or darkest night,I reminisce about a woman named Starlight. I can recollect times when things were bleak and my anger and tolerance had reached their peak. She'd be the voice of reason and comfort zone,the shining light to guide me home. If the fog of confusion suddenly loomed, her glimmer of hope always pierced through. Less than a goddess but more than a lady,Starlight was and continues to be...sorely missed and an inspiration to me.

She was my eldest sister and also a torchbearer. refusing to concede to or dwell in darkness. Even when she wandered or fell astray, she would keep her resolve and find her way. When others felt despair or was lacking hope,she would always encourage and offer assistance. No matter what situation arose, she'd try her best to accommodate even if she herself was in need. Why God chose to take her from us remains in question but she served him faithfully. She preached his word with the fearlessness of a zealot and loved with no regret. Not only will she be missed, she'll be honored. She was aptly nicknamed "Starlight" because she illuminated people's lives. Especially mine.

Still cannot believe you are gone. My heart aches, but I am going on stronger because you would not want me to do any less. I will see you again. Give Father my love.

Missing you but knowing that you are incredibly happy in Heaven.
