Today was the day I got the news about Mema. I remember those words and I always will remember them. A little before I had a feeling like God was telling me or letting me know it was her time and I thank him for that as she deserved to be happy. I love you Mema to Pluto and back

Today might be hard for some people as today personally is hard for me. A lot of people say leaAnn was a teacher an amazing friend a great mom and grandma but she was so much more than that she was a beautiful smart caring very stubborn person she was my best friend. I remember when she had a seizure in heb in the cheese section- and after when she was getting helped by the ambulance people she looked up and saw the fear in my eyes and said “I’m ok” I’m ok... that moment was I can’t even explain she was so tough! She survived so much and lived a great life. I wouldent be the person I am today with out her. I just want to take a moment to thank her thank you so much for everything ! I also remember this day last year. I remember hearing those words- “they are letting her go sometime this afternoon “ those words that just killed me. Then a few days before my dad told me she had covid hearing those words right then all I could do was drop my phone and cry. It was the fact that I new what was about to happen. I knew a couple days before that she was in trouble i could feel it. The last time I ever got to talk to her was her birthday Jan 19 2020 it was one of the best days of my life! I would always ask her who’s your favorite grandchild and she would say me as I would say she’s my fav grandma and or best friend. She would also every time I went home from school she would annoy me with questions but deep down I did not care. I loved it! I could go on and on but I’ll stop here. Love you Mema ❤️

LeaAnn was one of the kindest, open minded and honest women that I had the opportunity to share my life with. I spent hours with her when I needed someone to talk to and she listened. Her door was always open to me, my children and the rest of my family. My mother considered her a best friend and LeaAnn was. She truly opened my eyes to many things in life, whether I wanted to see them or not. My heart will always have a place for her and the memories we shared will remain with me forever. She treated me like one of her own and I will never forget that. Miss you so much LeaAnn. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend and part of my life.

LeaAnn, AKA Nana, was my mom, Eileen Nelson’s childhood best friend. Us Nelson kids weren’t related by blood but we were her Nana kids, and she’s been in our life since the day we were born. She often visited us in Dallas and did her best to attend all our celebrations. I still can’t believe she’s gone... I will miss my Nana very much, especially her big hugs, soothing voice, and all her love & support. She wasn’t my blood aunt, but I loved her like one. Till the day I get to hug you again, Nana. Xoxo Meghan

Her Life
January 8, 2021
On April 27th, 2020, Heaven gained another angel when LeaAnn passed away from COVID-19 in Round Rock, TX. She is survived by her two sons: Patrick and Steven as well as her brothers: Dennis and Brian. She has 5 grandchildren: Haylee, Dyllin, Maxwell, Violet and Emerald Mizer.

She dedicated her life to children. She loved being a mother and teacher. She was still substitute teaching until her retirement in 2018. Those that were close to her know that the light that was brightest in her life was her close bond with first grandchild, Haylee (pictured next to her "meemaw" in the main photo) and her relationship with God. Her two sons remain in the Austin, TX area where they are raising their families close to the house where they grew up. Her hometown of Akron, Ohio was her other home and where her brother and his family currently resides. She had wonderful friends and was very involved with St. Richard's Episcopal Church in Round Rock, TX.

She was incredibly caring, loving and saw only the best in everyone. She is missed greatly.

As a teacher at Berkman Elementary, I was always grateful for the way LeeAnn pointed away from my concern about a student’s disruptive behavior and towards the child’s struggles and often broken spirit. LeeAnn often checked in with me after school to offer help and I was always thankful when she was working alongside her SpEd students in my classroom. LeeAnn was the genuine article.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of my good friend, LeaAnn.

I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun we had in our younger days.  We met when we worked together at Akron General Medical Center.  We were trayline girls in the kitchen.  That is where our friendship began.  Funnest job I have ever had.
LeaAnn and I spent a lot of time together.  Yes, at work and also having fun outside of work.  When I was first married to Bernie, LeaAnn spent a lot of time at our home.  Our home was frequented by friends, and boy did we have some crazy parties (as you can see by the photos).  It was not unusual for LeaAnn to stay at our home into the wee hours of the morning.  I would go to bed as I had to get up early for work and she and Bernie remained in the living room, laughing up a storm.  LeaAnn was the life of the party.  We were always having such a good time.
I remember the time that LeaAnn dressed up for our Halloween party of over 50 people.  She flew in from Texas and dressed so that no one knew who was underneath the costume.  She was literally annoying people by her behaviors until she revealed herself.  Everyone was so surprised and excited to see her.
I was in LeaAnn’s wedding.  Standing on her right side in the photo.
We visited LeaAnn on occasion in Texas as my son lived in Dallas for several years.
A smile is always on my face when I think of the great times we had with LeaAnn.  I hadn’t seen her for a few years and did not realize she was ill.
My husband, Bernie, passed away unexpectedly in 2012.
I know they are together in Heaven and having a good old time.  I can hear them laughing.
LeaAnn will be missed.  Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
