Oh Jane! Please know you all have been in my thoughts and prayers. I am so very sorry for your loss as I know the love you and Lee shared.

Be kind to yourself, find comfort in the memories and know that you are in the prayers of many.

Peace my friend!

Dear Jane and family. My heartfelt condolences to you all. I hope you feel surrounded by much love. As I'm sending you more love along with healing prayers and comforting hugs. I am missing my Jamaican brother already. Thank you for sharing Lee with me. One love! His Jamaican sista Annette

Lee was my "third son"! Always with us in happy or sad times. If it was during a time of sadness, like burying his cat in our pet cemetery or celebrating a birthday. He was here for every one of John D.'s
Those two boys could get into more mischief. One thing they loved to do was to climb or shinny up the tall pine tree in Mary Jane's front yard and make it sway side to side. Us Mothers would wonder why the tree didn't break and what would happen to them if it did! They never minded us and when they finished this "fun"  they say, See it didn't break! What a twosome they were!

Jane and family, There are really no words that adequately express my sympathy to you in your loss of Lee. I have been amazed to see you guys rally for the last 2 years and love him so well. Lee’s obvious extreme love for his family and dedication to fighting this awful disease was truly heartbreaking to watch and it was also inspiring in many ways. I pray that the same drive to keep Lee alive and love him will resonate within your hearts and help keep you close with family and friends. You have a great village here at Dauphin Island loving YOU “now and forever”. Lee is no longer in pain and can rest... and he will always be in our hearts. I can’t help but feel Lee’s presence and see him here watching over everyone the way he always did. I pray for Jane, the children and grandchildren to be comforted in these difficult days ahead and please know that you are loved so very much.

Lee, was my friend. We shared a 1957 mindset that allowed us to reminisce. Lee was my boss for a time and we agreed to disagree about many things.  We left each conversation with respect and trust that the next one would be fun! He was and is a man who understood a smile and it pained him when he couldn’t evoke one. Great things came out of 1957, A Chevy, Ike, Graceland, Frisbees and my friend. We all are the the fortunate ones, we got a chance to experience the best things that came out that year. Little did we know that one of them worked and partied with us every day. His name is and was Lee, Charles if you want know, and I was second to the greatest Charles that year. I’m okay with that, he had the lead and he had my friendship, my trust and my respect.. He is and was my friend...ohh and by the way, he always will be until we get to that crossroads upstairs, then he is buying.. well once again he got there first... love ya old man...CC

Lee was such a generous person. We will all miss him, but his legacy will live on through all the great work he did.
