His Life

On May 1, 1942, in Chambers County, AL, Rev. James and Inell (Core) Ramsey welcomed their 2nd child, a baby boy, and they named him LeMoris. His big brother called him “Bob”.

LeMoris attended the Chambers County Public School System (West Shawmut School, (Shawmut, AL)

At an early age, Bob joined the Friendship Baptist Church, Valley, AL. In later years he united with the St. James Baptist Church, Lanett, AL, where he remained until his death. LeMoris was very active in the church serving as chairperson of the Trustee Board and where ever he was needed.

He served as Chairman of the Ramsey/Johnson Family Reunion for over 20 years. He had a loved for camping in the mountains and riding his motorcycle.

He would put his heart and soul into making things beautiful with his hands. His famous words were “to always be on time.”

Bob worked as a carpenter for over 60 years.

On May 12, 2016, God saw that he was getting a little weary, so he came to his bedside and said “Come home and Rest with me.”

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. James (Sr.) and Inell Ramsey; sisters, Mary Boyd, Marilyn Brock, Janice Dozier and a brother, Calvin Ramsey.

 

LeMoris leaves to cherish his memories: six daughters, Barbara (Anthony) Bailey, Adila (Dion) Simpson, LaShan (Eddie) Bledsoe, Tabitha (Carl) Lawrence, Dianna Ramsey and Lorrian Ramsey; five sons, LaMarvin (Debrah) Walker, Carl Walker, Jerome (Toni) Walker, LeMoris Ramsey, Morris (Angela) Ramsey; four sisters, Hattie Ramsey, Mildred (Willie) Trammell, Helen (Ronnie) Washington, Gloria (Elijah) Marshall; five brothers, Cecil (Josephine) Ramsey, James (Janie) Ramsey, J.T. Ramsey, Kenny Ramsey, Frankie (Sara) Ross; brother-in-law, Arthur Boyd; one aunt, Louise Core; an array of grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends; special friend, Barbara Huguley
