GO GENTLY INTO THE NIGHT

The rage that propelled youth forward
Has calmed down with age but not burnt out
The heart stays fearless, at times wayward
The spirit is cheerful, still out and about

Sight may falter but keen as ever
In seeing what the heart must see
Ears that go silent can still hear
The laughter of children down memory lane

Don't fight the current of the river
To its flow, one must surrender
Do not fear the steep drop
Embrace the love that awaits
In the silvery pool below

Let God's loving arms keep you afloat
You have given life a good fight
Close your eyes, feel the peace
Of becoming one with the light

The radiance of God's smile
Snuffs out the dark's might
Now, the night is bright
Go gently into the night.

I mourn with you for the incalculable loss of Tita Lenny. I still remember her bright smile as we greeted each other at the Fernandez Reunion in Shenandoah, VA in June 2019. Her boisterous laugh still rings loud even after some time has passed. Sadly, that would be the last time I would see her. She had such a big smile, a big laugh and above all a big heart. Rest now Tita Lenny. Until I see you again.
With love,
Gerlie Mendoza and Family

Meg and I have know each other for over 40yrs..since our grade school/HS days at st scho manila, along with 6 other crazy ladies Nanya Mary Popo Kit Tina and Delia.  Our barkada did a lot of things together, typical teenagers.  Marcelo sleepovers were one of our favorites. That meant lots of fun and laughter, yummy dinner, binge eating a gallon of Dutch chocolate ice cream and an entire Black Forest cake. All provided by Tita  Lenny.  There was a time she even let us sleep in their room.

Meg moved to the US about a year after graduating from HS. While the rest of us were at  DLSU UP and UST.  That didn’t stop Tita Lenny from cutting ties with us. She was well updated as to what we were doing.  She would sometimes attend our yearly mini reunions, Tita Lenny and Tito Robin made sure to attend my wedding.  She comforted me in the hosp when my mom was rushed to the ER.  After 20 years of living here in the US, I went home for the first time just three yrs ago.  She insisted that we go see her. That would be my last time to see her in person and I so cherish the special moment I had with her.
Some of the girls prepared a short note in honor of Tita Lenny
FROM TINA:
Tita Lenny would always be there not only to give the usual welcome of a house guest but she spent quality time with us, making us feel loved and cared for.  I would always marvel as to how a busy bank executive and his equally busy wife, would have time to join us for our reunions.  Her laughter and her eagerness to know of our lives are things I would never forget about her.
FROM KIT:
When we talk and think about Tita Lenny, we are reminded of joy and laughter. There was never a dull moment with her during our mini get togethers. She simply accepted and loved each of us like her daughters. So when Rodel and I asked her to be our ninang in our wedding, she readily accepted the role. I am forever grateful for her spiritual and practical advices on how to be a good wife and to work hard on our marriage (knowing my husband line of work)
FROM POPO
Tita Lenny was like a mother to us. She would always make time to see us especially if someone arrives from abroad. She would often invite us to Marcelo for breakfast, lunch or dinner. When we are together, We would have long talks and lots of laughter.  She is like part of our barkada. We see her more often than Meg! Tita Lenny made us all feel special and loved. She would often say "parang mga anak ko" when she introduces us. We will truly miss Tita Lenny!
FROM MARY
Tita Lenny for the past few months had been comforting and supporting me following the loss of my Nanay. She reassured me and gave me strength because she knew I was so worried about dealing with all the red tape needed to travel alone back to Philippines during this difficult time. She made me feel warm and cared for just like she always did for all of us throughout the years.  She will always be with us in spirit.
FROM DELIA
Although my heart is heavy with grief, I truly believe that grief is love...that there is no grief without love.  And so tonight, we would like to declare our love for Tita Lenny.  Tita Lenny always had a big smile and gave the warmest hugs.  She was a bright light and a beautiful soul.
Tita Lenny and Tito Robin were the coolest parents and the love between them was tangible. I believe that their love for one another is so great it cannot be contained and it extends far and wide to everyone around them.
So when we heard that Tita Lenny was in the hospital, we hoped and prayed that she will recover. For how can a bright light and a beautiful soul who have touched so many lives be taken away too soon?
But on the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, Tita Lenny submitted her soul to God; and side by side with Our Lady and Christine, was flown into heaven to be with Mama Mary, St. Joseph and all the angels and saints.  And her beautiful soul shines even brighter from above.
We love you and we miss you, Tita Lenny. You will forever be a part of our lives and the memories we cherish.
**************
Tito Robin Tan Lyn Ken and the rest of the Hill/King family, and of course our dearest Meg...not enough words can express how truly sorry we are for your loss. You lost a wife mother and grandmother sister and an aunt.   May her love for you and all the sweet memories, that everyone has been sharing these past few days, give you the strength and comfort at this very difficult time. She will never be forgotten and she will live in yours and our hearts forever.
Thank you so much, Meg, for sharing your mom with us. We love her and we love you so much.

Special Tribute from Ian Richardson

On our 1st and subsequent trips to the Philippines, we always went to see tito Robin and tita Lenny and were always made to feel so very welcome.  It was always such a warm and welcoming greeting. It was always such a warm and welcoming greeting with an equally welcoming environment and I could see the love that they had for Mary and by extension for Rafael and myself.  It is very rare that you meet someone for the 1st time who impacts so much on you and makes you realise how much good they have in them. Tita Lenny was always so full of questions and excitement when we visited. For me, it was if I was meeting someone I had known all my life. Equally, Tito Robin was so welcoming, loving and always so genuinely interested in our family, our story and our well being. It has always been a pleasure just to spend time with them and it is very important to me and to the rest of our family, that we do so in future, and will make sure that whatever it takes we sit and talk and share our lives with tito Robin and his family. Rest in peace tita Lenny, you'll never be forgotten.
