Her Life
December 26, 2012

Lenora "Lee" Rosenberg nee Mathews was born on May 21, 1925 in
Philadelphia, PA to Mary and Wild Will Mathews Pro Heavy weight boxer.

She graduated from High School at the age of 15 and
thereafter graduated from the Fleishman School of Design at
Philadelphia Textile in 1942.  After teaching at Textile for 1 year,
she entered the textile industry and began designing independently,
going on to own her own factory producing women's clothing. She had
many talents, including singing, swimming, and horseback riding. During WWII she sang for the USO and after the war for the Reverend Dr. Leon H. Sullivan of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. As well as swimming at the Philadelphia Athletic Club she spent much time in the ocean at Atlantic City and also with her father and 5 time Olympic gold medal winner Johnny Weissmuller (aka Tarzan).  She loved horseback riding every Sunday morning in Fairmount Park.

In 1952 she married Stanley Rosenberg and moved to Timber Lakes in
Cecil, NJ. She was active in the Timber Lakes Association, acting as
Secretary and instrumental in starting a PTA, fund-raising, and serving
as PTA President for 6 years at Cecil Elementary School. She and Stan
moved to Westmont in 1968 and began a hobby of antiquing which in her later years grew into a profession. After another move to Cherry Hill, they finally settled in the antique capital Mullica Hill in ’93. Lenora was a passionate cook and loved making many cultural dishes and feasts for her family and friends well into the last 6 months of her life.   Her Monday night dinners were legendary and enjoyed by all.
