Leo “Billy” Robey, 80, of Freeport, died Thursday March 25, 2021 at Park Strathmore nursing home due to the debilitating effects of Alzheimer’s . Born November 1, 1940, in Ruleville, MS, the son of Horace and Lee Anna Robey. He moved to Freeport in 1964 and worked at Chrysler in Belvedere for 35 years. He loved fishing, reading, playing cards, British televisions shows, Westerns, listening to the Blues and playing with his grandchildren. He faithfully served as a ministerial servant in the Freeport congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a full-time pioneer in the field ministry. He was famous for his homemade pound cake, his humor and being a big, loving teddy bear. Leo is survived by his brother, Horace “Joe” Robey and two sisters, Hettie Knox and Mary Alice Price; 5 sons: Alexander Holloway, Leo Lawrence, Robert Buckner, Giovanni Robey, Dale Robey; 5 daughters: Martha Cross, Deborah Robey, Phyllis Sones, Patty Robey and Alisha Robey and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife of 47 years, Annie C Robey, his son Jonathan Robey, 2 grandsons and 5 sisters.
