This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Leonard Lewis McGrath who was born on November 24, 1932 in Philadelphia. He attended John Bartram High School, enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 2, 1949 and went to Fort Knox, Ky. for basic training and then to Paratrooper training at Fort Campbell, Ky.  He was sent to Korea immediately following his training and made several parachute jumps before he was injured. He was assigned to a medical mash unit. After receiving the Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, he was honorably discharged and returned to his native Philadelphia.

Len began working at Westinghouse in Essington, Pa. where his mechanical drawing skills were discovered and led him to pursue a career in mechanical engineering under the GI bill.  He worked for Boeing as an engineer in the Areo Space Industry, later as a Supervisor for the Nuclear Power Industry working for Sargent & Lundy and Betchel.   After retiring he did consulting work for Brunswick Power & Light and lived in Cary, N.C.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, sister and nieces.
