A Homegoing Celebration for Deacon Leroy (Ray) Johnson

Deacon Leroy (Ray) Johnson Sr. son of the late Frank Johnson and Rosie Lee (Beaty) Johnson. Deacon Johnson was born June 18,1930 of Chickasaw County, Mississippi .

Deacon Johnson confessed hope in Christ at an early age and united with the West Grove Baptist Church, Chickasaw County, Mississippi. Later he joined Mount Ararat Missionary Baptist Church, Milwaukee, WI where he remained a member until he departed.

He united in Holy wedlock in 1948 with Chairty L. (Taylor) Johnson and to this union four children were born.

Deacon Johnson and his wife moved to Milwaukee, WI in 1952. He united with the Prossissive Baptist Church of Milwaukee, WI under the leadership of Rev. Smith. He faithfully served as an Deacon for over 45 years. He worked for Jewish Community Center as an Low Pressure Boiler Operator for 10 years, until his health declined.

He departed this life at the Aurora Sinai Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI. on March 25, 2012. He was 81.

He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Diane Lee Johnson and Delois Johnson of Milwaukee, WI.; two sons Leroy Johnson Jr. of Milwaukee, WI.; Terry Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; two brothers Charles William Johnson (oldest) and Alfa Johnson (youngest) of Chickasaw County, Mississippi both departed at an early age. Two sisters Ruby Mae (Johnson) Gates of Houlka, MS, also departed; Carrie C. {Robert} Isabell (Johnson) of Pontotoc, Mississippi; Nine grandchildren Danyel, Tythian, Melody {Jerome}, Tasha, Monica, Gastone, Tyler, and Rio; sixteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends that will cherish his memory and the times that they spent with him.
