I have always been proud of my mother, she is an amazing person. She had a special quality, she was always able to pick her self up. dust her self off and start all over again. My parents were divorced when I was only 5 years old and I lived with her for only one year when I had to go live with my dad because it was hard for a single working mom to care for a young child, In my fathers home we had a whole extended family living together This seperation was very difficult for me and my mother. She sacrificed for me , something that only mothers who love thier chlildren can do. Some how we kept a bond between us, we always enjoyed our time with each other and could talk about anything . I wil miss talking to my mom very much. I have come to find out since my mothers passing that she had a lot happen in her life before my birth and a lot after, 89 years is a long time ,much of it was difficult for her. Somehow she was able to take these difficulties and use them to understand and be compassionate towards others. She left this world with few posessions but with a lot of accomplishments. Did you know that she wrote poetry that was published , did volunteer work for the veterans and was a promenent member of the AA.
She touched many lives with her loving heart. We will all be better for having known her. My father also passed three years ago. I have found out that when someone you love passes they take a piece of your heart with them. I am her only daugher, she had two grandchildren and six greatgrandaughers and a son in law, she will live on in our hearts . We love you Mommy.

I will always value the loving relationship that I was able to enjoy with my Grandmother. While growing up she lived far away and we had few visits in person, but she always made sure that we knew she loved us and was thinking of us through letters, cards, and phone calls.
As adults, she always shared in the joys of marriages and births as our family grew.
I reflected on the ups, downs, and twists of my life with her and she advised me that
"You don't get what you want in life, you get what you NEED." I have kept this positive perspective and insight close to my heart.
On my last visit with her in April 2010, she was recovering in the hospital. Although she had become reliant on a wheel-chair, when we arrived she was sitting beside her bed with fresh make-up, hair done, and nails polished. She was gracious and pretty and we have great memories from that visit.
I know the loss of her independence and ability to enjoy the things she loved in life must have been difficult and I pray that she can rest now and is at peace.
We love and respect all she was to us and the times we shared together.
