You are a joy and a pleasure and we miss you.

Strong, creative, funny, generous, firm, determined, loving, independent, open-minded, silly when needed, and fierce when appropriate, Leslie Sue White Byers passed away on December 10, 2014.

She faced each challenge--and there were so many--with dignity and bravery. Her sense of color and artistry, combined with unbelievable follow-through enlightened the lives around hers. From stained-glass ornaments, hand-painted silk scarves, quilts and quilted bags, to award-winning photography, she always had at least one project going.

She traveled as much as she could, visiting Japan; China; Florence, Italy; and Grenada; as well as many places across the American continent and was usually ready for an adventure--big or small.

She had the gift of conversation and an abiding interest in the people around her that was often returned.

"To Leslie's family,

As a participant in the Encore and After Encore program I came to know Leslie through our breast cancer struggles in common.

Always with a smile on her face, Leslie was the first one in the locker room and into the pool.  Even when she was no longer able to participate in the program, Leslie communicated that she looked forward to returning as soon as she was able.

One evening a number of us including Leslie met at David's Tavern to listen to another member of our group who is a musician.  We all had a wonderful evening- I will remember Leslie that evening with a smile on her face in the company of friends.

As is common when people share a common bond, Leslie shared details of her life, both positive and difficult.  I admire her strength and calm in the face of her struggles.

Leslie's passing has left a void in our group- she will always be remembered and missed.

I hope she us still dancing wherever she may be."
