Lessie Smith was born on January 13, 1995 to John Holan and his wife Stacy Holan. Lessie was shopping with her mother when she wanted to watch a group of older boys play video games. Lessie's mother Reve walked away for about seven minutes, and when she returned to get her daugter, both Lessie and the group of boys had vanished. A security guard claimed that he had thrown the group of boys out because they were bickering, and that Lessie may have been with them, and left the store. Lessie was never seen alive again.
On August 10, 2008, Lessie's remains were found in a canal in Vero Beach, Florida. Ottis Toole confessed to the murder of the child, and died in 2009 in jail of liver failure. Lessie's story has helped influence America's Most Wanted, where her dad works to help find other missing children and adults.
