His Life

Our Pawpaw was definitely a one of a kind man. He was a loving father, caring Pawpaw, and devoted husband. He has the kind of strength you read about in books and hear about in movies. His strength was genuine, it was real. Pawpaw battled leukemia cancer for about four years. This is one memory I will never forget. Well Pawpaw decided that before he had to do chemo he was just gonna go ahead and shave all of his hair off and "beat the chemo Gods" as he would say. So when I went to Nana and Pawpaws one day he had me shave his head and his beard. This was the first time in my life I had saw my Pawpaw with no beard or no hair! Well, ALL of his hair grew back while he was doing chemo. He didnt lose any hair, if anything he gained it! And that was when he decided to grow his hair and beard out. So, he definetly "beat the chemo Gods". And if you were around Pawpaw these past few years you know he was proud of his beard and hair! He came up with so much that he wanted to do with his beard from it being braided to beaded! He wanted to do it all. I bet he is up in heaven with the best looking beard around. We miss you so much Pawpaw. I love sharing stories like these and looking back at all the memories. Im blessed to have been a part of your life, and beyond proud to call you my Pawpaw!
