His Life

My Daddy

July 18, 2012

Lewis was born May 16, 1938 to Sarah Corvin and Russell Wilson. He grew up on a farm in Roanoke. He joined the Navy when he was 17 yrs. old. He served 19 1/2 yrs. in the Navy defending his country between active duty and reserves. He worked for Wertz Florist for 30 plus years and off and on for Texas Tavern even longer. He also worked for Richfield Retirement Home. All he wanted to do was get his new leg and go back to work.

Daddy married Gale Yates on March 13, 1957 and had 5 children: Lewis Andrew Wilson, Jr. (Debbie), Vickie Elaine Thomas (Dale), Sarah Frances Baldwin (Danny), Martha Sue Secrest (Sammy), & Johnny Eugene Wilson (Barbara). He married Pat Peggins on December 28,1975 and had 1 child: Chasity Hope Mitchell. He has 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Violet Beckner and numerous nieces and nephews. And long time friends: Leonard Yeatts and Martha Sue Meredith.

Daddy was a hard worker. He would give you his last dollar knowing that he needed it himself and never complain about it. He could be so hard at times then other times he was so loving. He loved to tell his jokes and make people laugh. He loved to joke with  Sammy his "PAL" because Sammy always laughed at them and he loved to make Jessie giggle and would call her "Giggle Britches".

We get our stubborness and hardheadedness from Daddy. LOL He said I was his "Spitfire". We said some things to each other we both regret but we both knew we loved each other.

The only good thing that comes from your passing is knowing you are no longer in pain and stressed out. We know you were tired and now you can Rest In Peace. You deserve it. You will be forever missed and loved.
