Lewis Henry Jackson was born in Lone Oak, Georgia on December 15, 1928 to the late Hewlett Jackson and Mary Lizzie Sewell Jackson Tigner.

He was the eldest grandchild of Dee and Estella Sewell and he was reared by them. They held a special place in his heart.

After schooling, Lewis enlisted in the United States Army, where he served in the Korean War (1950-1953). Lewis often spoke of his service to his country.
Lewis was united in Holy Matrimony to Jessie Mae Heard. Lewis and Jessie's union was blessed with a daughter, Linda. After their marriage he moved his church membership from St. Paul CME Church in Lone Oak to Wadley Chapel United Methodist Church.

Lewis started working at a young age. He worked at several industrial Plants before being hired at The Southern Company/Georgia Power. At the age of 59 he retired and celebrated by taking his family on a trip to Disney World.
Lewis enjoyed retirement. He and Jessie Mae would visit their 3 grandsons regularly. He also loved fishing.

He transcended on the morning of Saturday, February 6, 2016.
Lewis leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Lakes; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law: Michael and Shokira Johnson, Charles and Symone Lakes II, Lyndan and Marianne Lakes; two great grandsons, Sean Johnson and Cade Lakes; four nieces/daughters: Patricia Gay, Gloria Blackmon, Betty Jo Blackmon and Maggie Blackmon; brother, Learwinson (Lelia) Jackson; sisters, Joyce.(Alonza) Colton, Eloise Gamble, Vivian Hector and Carolyn (Bobby) Snow; sisters-in-law, Lillian Cotton and Jennye (Charles) Hardaway; brother-in-law, Fred Rhodes; special cousin, Leon Coverson; special friends, Lorine Byrd, Henry Rhodes Jr. and Carl Sneed; and a host of family and friends.
