Lillian T. Smith, 97, a lifelong resident of Granville County, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at Croasdaile Pavilion, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 12, 1920 to Bertha Hayes Tillotson and Robert Lee Tillotson.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Milton L. Murray and R.L. Smith, four siblings, Margaret Chuites, Mary Francis Johnson, Leonard Tillotson and Vernon Tillotson. Her daughter, Eleanor M. Fowler, and two grandsons, William Fowler and Johnnie Fowler, also deceased.

She is survived by her son, Robert F. Murray (Sherrill), two grandsons, (Don Flower (Kara) and David Fowler) two granddaughters (Sharon M. Barker (Chad) and Susan P. Murray), eight great-grandchildren as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

At her own request, there will be no viewing or service at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that any memorials be made to a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank their friends for all their prayers and loving support.
