Her Life

Coming to an end....

April 7, 2011

Mother lived life to the fullest to the very last second.  The end of her earthly life came suddenly and very peacefully on February 16, 2011, when God whispered in her ear that He needed her with Him.  Her end was just as she imagined, she simply closed her eyes and went home to be with the Lord.

She was truly a textbook example of what a great mother, wife, grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-n-law, and friend should be.  She left all that knew her an excellent road map, but she hard shoes to fill.  Momma's physical presence will truly be missed, but the essence of who she was and the legacy that she left, will forever live on!!!!

We have, and we will forever love you!!

Her acceptance of Christ

April 6, 2011

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior very early, because that was the only life she knew, and the only way she wished to live.  Living a life outside of a Christ-Inspired surrounding was not a part of her conscious being.  A Christian life was the only life she found worthwhile.  She joined New Hope Baptist Church where she was a life-long active member (one of the church mothers).  New Hope was a constant staple in her life, but God, through Jesus, directed her life.  She loved the Lord and sang His praises every opportunity she got.  She said, " Their no way I could raise twelve children (and numerous grandchildren) up in the admonition of the Lord, if I didn't know Jesus for myself."  She was a praying mother, and she believed in the Word of God and walked in it daily.

Her Life.......

Lillie Mae Hopson Moss was born in Falcon, Arkansas on November 20, 1927,  to the late Rosie Hopson (Williams) and Anainas Hopson.  She was the sister of the late O.D., Daisy, Freddie, Dixie, and Ollie (Marie), and is the sister to Letha Bradford of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

When she was very young, her mother divorced Anainas and later married Hester Williams, who was instrumental in her childhood development.  From this union she became the sister to her brothers, Thomas (Freddie) and Willie (both of Dallas, Texas).  She was also the step sister to one sister and four brothers all who preceded her in death.

Lillie was an exceptional student who loved school.  She attended Sanders Elementary School and Oak Grove High School.  She excelled in all subjects, but her favorite subjects were reading, which was a life long passion, and math, which was a very useful when helping her own children with their homework.

Her early years were eventually spent on the farm that her mother and stepfather owned.  She often told wonderful stories of days spent playing, swiming, and working on the farm with her siblings and other neighborhood children.  From those experiences, she formed a life-long friendships that she cherished for the span of her life.

She was loving mother of 12 children, a devoted wife of 63 years (Frank Moss) until his death on June 27, 2008, a church mother, spiritual mother, and a friend to all who knew her.

23rd Psalm........

April 6, 2011

" The Lord is my shephard, I shall not want.  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.  He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name sake.  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and they staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over, surely good ness and mercy shall follow me all the day of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
