Her Life
August 23, 2022
Linda Gamble, 66, of Bethel Maine passed away on August 22 after a long illness. Linda was born in 1955 and grew up in La Jolla, California. She earned her undergraduate degree from Graceland College (now University), Master of Arts from the University of Oregon, and Master of Education from East Stroudsburg University. Linda spent many years working for the University of Farmington, supporting future teachers as a faculty member and Coordinator of Special Projects in the College of Education, Health, & Rehabilitation Services.

Linda is described by her husband as being the “North Star” of their family. She was a guide and constant for everyone who knew and loved her. She created an incredible life for her daughters, their families, and their friends. With a spirit for adventure, Linda loved to travel and shared that with those dear to her, especially her husband. From biking across Austria to kayaking in Norway, she never shied away from a new experience.

Linda’s priority was always her family and community. Throughout the years, she was an active volunteer in the Bethel area, including work with the Mahoosuc Land Trust, the Mahoosuc Arts Council, the Gem Movie Theater, Maine Huts and Trails, the HealthReach Community Health Centers Governing Board, and the West Parish Congregational Church. Linda was one of the parents who spearheaded the creation of the Davis Park Playground in the 1990s, building and installing the original play structures. As a PTA member, former teacher at Woodstock Elementary School, and distance learning educator, Linda continually focused on the experience of children in Western Maine.

Linda is survived by her husband, Buzz, daughters Sarah and Kelsey, their partners, three grandchildren, three sisters, and many loved ones. She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. David and Ava Carmichael.

In the words of Christopher Robin
“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together, there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you.”
