This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Linda Tomlinson, 71, born on June 2, 1942 and passed away on May 14, 2014. We will remember her forever.
We will miss our beloved mother, grandmother and friend. Linda was an amazing person who touched so many lives. She was beautiful, elegant, strong, passionate, generous, and fiercely independent. She loved beauty and art, travel, and gardening. She had impeccable taste, yet never hesitated to get her hands dirty in the garden or taking on do-it-yourself remodelling projects.
Linda loved her family and friends more than anything. They carry her spirit and memory forever. Linda, we miss you and love you always.
Linda did not want to have a funeral service. Please contribute your thoughts, prayers, stories and photos to share on this memorial site.
Donations may be made in honor of Linda to the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, Colorado, where she spent countless volunteer hours surrounded by beauty.
Tributes
Leave a tributeGuthries and Ropers first met at Fort Gulick, CZ, Panama in about 1966. We were together again at Fort Benning in '68-'69, and yet again at West Point in the early 70's. What a thrill to reunite with you in Mazatlan in about 2008.
You were always the energetic, hip, cool, good-looker with a huge heart. You'll be sorely missed, dear.

Linda and the boys
My kids loved being around Grandma. Even though she was in poor health for most of their young lives, she enjoyed visits to Logan every summer that she was able. We also spent several memorable Christmases in San Diego with Kirk and his family, and those memories will always be with us.
The kids loved Linda's stories. She would tell hilarious tales of her early days with the Ropers, such as when Butch fell asleep in church and she unstrung her pearls and dropped them in his ear (and then later took him to the emergency room to get them removed). And the one where she conned Dix into dropping a $100 bill into the church offering plate. And so many other ones of Brett and Kirk's mishaps and adventures as kids, usually with one of them breaking bones or ending up in the hospital. Kellen and Heath would beg to hear them again and again, and she would never tire of retelling.
The kids also spent counless hours playing games with Grandma - Skipbo was a favorite of Linda's and anyone who kenw her well became very good at this game. But she was always up to learn any game that the kids brought out of the closet.
Other great memories with the boys were times spent on the beach - whether the shores of Bear Lake in Utah or in San Diego. Linda loved time in the sun watching them play in the sand and water.
We miss you Linda every day! But we are so thankful for these wonderful memories and for the time we had and for your love which will be with us always.
Dear Kirk and Leah and Brett and Jordy , It is so sad to be writting this on Lindas memorial page. It is so hard to believe that the woman that I thought would live forever even though she had been so sick for so long is not here anymore. Your mom was a very unique person. I can remember growing up that I thought Aunt Linda was so amazing and had the greatest taste in everything!!!! She was always so loving and generous and giving. However you didn't want to get on her "BAD side." Ha ha. Believe me I have been there several times. We all loved her so much so why couldn't she live forever. I remember when you boys were little and lived in Mission Veijo. All the fun we had visiting you and when you lived in Huntington Beach and I used to babysit you both. Your mom sure had her hands full with the two of you!!! I am so sad that she is not with us any more but I know that she is in a better place and there is no more pain and she is at peace. I am glad that Bud and I could be with her in Tucson and be able to help her when she needed help. We will miss her very much. Beth and Bud
