This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Linda Rodriguez 76 years old born on April 15, 1942 and passed away on December 23, 2018. We will remember her forever as a strong, talented and flamboyant woman.

Happy Birthday Mom (April 15th, 2019)! Though this birthday was spent in heaven with all our family who have passed on, you are missed here. Your spunk and humor and the humorous way you looked at life.

I remember you as an independent and strong person, Mom. You thrived on music, voice, your love of history and learning. I do not know how you managed to get through losing two good men as husbands, yet you did. You told me you kept strong and grieved in private. I will always see you in your Flamenco dancing dress while your teacher watched and I watched as a fascinated 9 year old girl. I listened as you practiced your scales on the piano and sat on the floor at your feet watching and listening. You are and were loved. Daddy Jimmy adored you and Daddy Rod did as well. Now you are where you are not in pain. Your thinking is clear; you are happy and well and you have Maddy and Napoleon and Madelaine with you and all the loved ones with you. Your faith has brought you "home." I love you, Jan

How I Met Jan's Father by Linda Rodriguez

"It's okay if you keep a copy of this. Write it down so you will remember it. I met your father, Jan, at a party. He took off his tie because he hated wearing the damned things. I thought he was so very handsome and a nice guy. So I saw where he laid his tie down and took it. I wanted to meet him. 

This is where Stephanie gets her eyes from. Steph had blue eyes when she was a baby. Her grandfather had blue eyes too, and boy were they ever blue and just gorgeous! James Nelson Solomon was a good looking guy. The classiest of the Solomon men, for sure. And sweet and smart! Who knows what he would have been if he had not died when he was only 20 years old! 

Anyway, so I got the tie, and the rest is history. I got his phone number and called him so that I could meet him to return his tie. I returned the tie and then some. And that's how Jan came to be born."

Roly Poly Bugs

You know those roley poley bugs that when you touch them, they roll up into a little ball to protect themselves? Mom confided to me that she used to eat these when she was little more than a toddler. 

I don't think grandmother knew about it, else she surely would have told me of that story! But you shared that with me. I remember responding with, "Ewwwah!" And you said, "I couldn't help it! I was just a kid, what did I know?" True. :)
