Linda Mae Koiner, 80, of Suffolk Virginia, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. She was born on April 10, 1942, in Waynesboro, Virginia, to the late DeWitt and Ethel Bunch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Charles (Charlie) Earl Koiner, and her brother Eugene Bunch.

Linda is survived by her three children, Dale Louderback of Moneta, Virginia, Donna (Steve) Samol of Suffolk, Virginia, and Denise (Emory) McCoy of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Linda is also survived by her two granddaughters, Megan (Mike) Lang and Miranda McCoy of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was also the great grandmother to Emma Lang of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Linda has two surviving brothers, Edward (Virginia) Bunch and Franklin (Vanda) Bunch of Waynesboro, Virginia. Linda will also be missed by her beloved cat Bogart (Bo) whose favorite place to be was on her lap.

As a young mother, Linda worked tirelessly to provide and care for her three children. No matter what life threw at her she always made sure they never went without and knew how much she loved them. After retiring from Genicom, Linda drove a school bus for the city of Waynesboro. In 2005 Linda and Charlie relocated to Hampton Roads to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Linda and Charlie enjoyed going out to eat, traveling in their motor home, and playing endless hours of board games with their family and friends. When Linda wasn’t with family you could catch her in her favorite chair with Bo watching Judge Judy, Dr. Phil, Dateline, Blue Bloods, the ID channel, or reading Stephen King and Patricia Cornwell novels.

Linda will be remembered for her gentle and loving nature which embraced not only family and friends but any animal in her care as well. She loved all of her animals and considered them part of her family. Linda was very honest and opinionated. She would always tell you what was on her mind, even if you didn’t want to hear it. Linda was a beautiful, kind, generous soul who will be truly missed by anyone who was lucky enough to have met her.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 3, 2022, at McDow Funeral Home. Linda will then be laid to rest beside her mother at Augusta Memorial Park.

There are grandmothers out there who would move heaven and earth for their grandchildren, and that was you. You were the best grandmother in the world and you will be missed every second of every day. I love you so much.
