Her Life
September 20, 2016

Mrs. Shelnutt was born July 28, 1941 in LaGrange, GA, the twelfth and final child of the late Wallace Pittman, Sr. and Ruth Powers Pittman. She was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and spent all of her energy helping and loving others. For most of her working life she was employed as an accountant in Marietta. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, watching western movies, and growing flowers.

She and her husband, Tom Shelnutt, were married in 1969. She enjoyed the company of family and friends, especially her beloved granddaughter, Gabby, who was the light of her life. She once wrote in her high school yearbook, “If love makes the world go ‘round, I’ll be spinning the rest of my life.” It was her love that made everyone else’s world spin.

Survivors include: her husband, Michael Thomas Shelnutt, Sr. of Franklin; one daughter, Michelle L. Shelnutt of LaGrange; two sons: Michael T. Shelnutt, Jr. of Atlanta and Dustin Cook of Franklin; one granddaughter, Gabrielle “Gabby” Barton; four sisters: Irene Ketcheum of LaGrange, Ilene McClure of Alabama, Carol Meacham of Marietta, and Cleo Gafford (Tommy) of Columbus; two brothers: Jerry Pittman (Judy) of Atlanta, and Wallace Pittman, Jr. (Katherine) of LaGrange; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
