Mr. Linwood Russell Wells, Sr. was born June 27,1925 to the
late Mamie Jones Wells and John Russell Wells in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. On Thursday morning, June 9, 2016 God called him
from his earthly labor to receive his heavenly crown.
Linwood was educated in the Philadelphia school system.
At an early age he joined the Holiness Church of Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania.

Linwood joined the United States Army at age 20 serving his
country with courage and pride. His military duties and career led
him to many places. He retired after 20 years of service reaching
the rank of Sergeant.

Mr. Wells united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Wyckoff Wells on
June 20, 1952. Married 64 years and 1l months until his death.
With that union seven children were born.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and daughter, Donndella Wells.

Mr. Wells leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Mary Wyckoff
Wells of Alexander City, Alabama; six children, Brenda Wells-
Kelley, Muriel (Wendell Sr.) Saxton, Amelia Wells-Whetstone all
of Alexander City, Alabama, John (Corelle) Wells, Linwood R.
Wells, Jr., Nathan (Linda) Wells all of Houston, Texas; fifteen
grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; devoted friend of
the family, Jimmy Whetstone, Sr. ofAlexander City, Alabama and
a host of cousins.
