This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Lionel Hamlett Sr 81 years old , born on July 3, 1937 and passed away on November 7, 2018. We will remember him forever.

Funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m on November 15,2018 at Berean Missionary Church. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr.Lionel W.D. Hamlett, Sr., age 81, was born on July 3, 1937 in Jackson, TN and moved to Dayton at the age of 3.He departed this life on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton.

Lionel was born to the late Oliver Womack and Robbie Hamlett-Johnson.Others also proceeding him in death:stepfather W.D. Johnson; son, Lionel (Danny) W. D. Hamlett, Jr. and brother, Eric Johnson.

He leaves to honor his life:wife, Maelene Smith-Hamlett; son Anthony (Tamra) Hamlett; daughters Phyllis Hamlett, Dawn Walker, Claudia Hamlett all of Dayton, OH; Pamela (Simmie) Besteder of Montgomery, AL; stepchildren: Reggie (Sharon) Smith, Ricky (Renita) Smith of Dayton, OH; Robyn (Clifton) Mason of Aurora, IL; brothers: Varnell (Patsy) Womack of Jackson, TN; Reggie (Kristy Johnson) of Dayton, OH; sisters: Florenstine Comer and Crystal (Walter)Wiggins of Jackson, TN.

Lionel is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; as well as a host of family and friends.

Lionel was a government employee at Defense Electronic Supply Center (DESC) for 38 years.He was a dedicated Equal Opportunity Officer and had strong interests in many other aspects of his job.Lionel was an avid chess player and auto mechanic.He loved yard work and keeping his cars clean and running smoothly.He also loved to tell jokes and stories.

Lionel attended Berean Missionary Church in Trotwood, where he reaffirmed his faith in the Lord in his later days.

I did not know Mr. Lionel Hamlett Sr. personally; however, I do know his fruit, Reginald Smith. He had to be a remarkable person and will be greatly missed.  I hope his family and loved ones will find comfort in knowing this is not goodbye, instead farewell.
