Can't believe it's been over 10 years since Lois passed. Just realizing she died before 9/11 - when the world changed in a very different way.
I pretty much click on this every year and pause to remember Lois...and and all of you. The music is incredible.
Sending love to each of you wherever you. This was and still is a lovely tribute you prepared at her passing.

Lois,
You will always be remembered. As the years pass, the happier memores are replacing the more difficult memories. Be at peace and may all those who love you be at peace, as well.
Love forever,
Linda

God, see to it that Lois runs free now without joints that pain or memories that stop her in her tracks. Let her be the laughing friend who went house "shopping" with me in Breckenridge while our kids rode the hills on the Alpine Slide, probably not fooling one of the realtors who let us wander through the open houses we could only look and dream of. Keep her safe until we meet again. Mary

How quickly this year has passed since we shared remembrances of your mom and our sister with you. It gave us great joy to see you come together to honor her. She would have been so pleased.

remembering Lois in our lives

June 9, 2012

At the funeral, Matthew remarked that Lois passed away on Easter Sunday.  As we sat together in the beautiful small chapel blooming with flowers - Lois' seven children, twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her sister, her brother, and old family friends - it felt something like Easter, too.

Making the priest laugh, Matthew asked, what else did Christ teach us but that it’s possible to hit the re-set button?  It is possible to create a new legacy out of the shadows of previous generations.  Love your children with all your hearts, Matthew said.  Be kind to yourself.  Say a wish prayer, and make it happen.

She would have wanted it that way.

my first memories

April 23, 2012

Looking back, my earliest memories are of her face.  Her long hair, her smile, the color of her eyes.  My mother, etched in my mind, good times and bad.  I can still remember that "memory" of her face.

Another, more specific memory... one that still makes me laugh (given modern safety regulations for kids).  A great memory:  Our family was driving, I think I was 5 or 6, and I remember so clearly sitting on my Mom's lap in the front passenger seat of an old car.  No seatbelt, no child seat, and I was in the FRONT seat of a car with with a metal dashboard.  Ah, the 70s. :)

Safety aside :) it's such a positive early memory... sitting on my Mom's lap, my Dad driving, the windows down, the wind in our hair, the hot Kansas summer.
