Lois was born in Middletown Ohio to Sox and Mary Margerum of 1513 Fairmont Avenue. She was the eldest of four children. Lois attended Middletown High School and graduated in 1950. She married William Ely Neff of Middletown Ohio and had four children with him. Upon divorcing Bill in 1958 she worked as a Teller in the Franklin National Bank in Franklin Ohio. In 1964 Lois married P. Brooks Stockmon of Springboro Ohio and moved to his home " Brookflow". P.B. was the Vice -President of the Springboro branch of the Franklin National Bank and Lois became a Loan Officer of the same. Lois discovered she was a lover of Birds and all nature, art, music and was a voracious reader. She enjoyed sharing and teaching her children, Grand and Great Grandchildren all about these things. Lois and P.B. planted many trees on their property and loved " living in the woods".

In 1990 Lois became one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was an active member of the South Miamisburg Congregation until her death. Lois beloved hobby of writing and sending unique notes and postcards to people of varying ages earned her a special place in the hearts of her friends.

I have always remembered that day in 1964 when Lois became Mrs. P. B. Stockmon and moved into Brookflow as the day when I met my very best friend - her oldest daughter Pat. Pat and I shared many magical moments growing up side by side, until Pat died much too young many years ago. Now, as I reflect on Lois's passing, I realize how many memories I cherish of Lois as well. I remember as a child, sitting in the living room listening to her play 'In a Monastery Garden' on her grand piano. To this day, I love that piano piece and cherish that memory. I remember that Lois took us kids to see a performance of the Dayton ballet troupe, which made me dream of being a ballerina. Also, I first saw 'To Kill a Mockingbird' over at Stockmon's. It has always been a favorite of mine, as it was of Lois's. After every party that Pat and I would have, Lois would patiently listen to all the details of our exciting evening. Long after I had left home, I looked forward to visiting Lois at Brookflow, seeing her sitting out on her beloved porch, listening to the birds or her classical music. She always made me feel welcome. I will miss those visits. The one solace is that Lois's daughter Sue and her family will be carrying on the tradition at Brookflow. I look forward to continuing my visits to that special place that holds so many memories. Carol, Sue, and Brooks, please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss and my gratitude for all the childhood memories we share.

Forever Brookflow…

November 1, 2021
It was the summer of 1993 or ‘94 and my family visited Brookflow for the first time. I remember pulling up and as soon as we got out of the car, I heard Grandma Lois’ welcoming us with her signature warm but very audible laughter and open arms. From that day forward whether it be hanging out at the pool, relaxing in the den or standing in the kitchen/dining room—there would always be laughter in copious amounts when visiting Brookflow.

It was very cool to receive a post card from her also because when you read it, it was as if you were sitting right there with her enjoying a conversation. She could be telling you about how Suzanne was in the kitchen baking bread, Vern opening the pool or any of Suzanne’s kids or grandkids who were there at Brookflow having a good time! She also loved the marvels of Jehovah’s creation, especially the birds of heaven. When she would include tid bits about sitting and looking at the bird feeders she would always include the particular bird that was feeding and even a little info about it. She was an amazing story teller in her cards and they would always captivate you for that brief amount of time you took to “listen” as she spoke to you. I feel so very fortunate to have been apart of her life and her apart of mine and the beautiful relationships that have spawned as a result. As she’s resting now in the safest place anyone who’s passed can be, Jehovah’s memory, it’s so comforting to know that I’ve not heard the last of that laughter or spoken the last words of our conversation because like her I too hold strong to the promise of seeing her again in the fulfillment of God’s promise of a resurrection.
