Forever Brookflow…

November 1, 2021
It was the summer of 1993 or ‘94 and my family visited Brookflow for the first time. I remember pulling up and as soon as we got out of the car, I heard Grandma Lois’ welcoming us with her signature warm but very audible laughter and open arms. From that day forward whether it be hanging out at the pool, relaxing in the den or standing in the kitchen/dining room—there would always be laughter in copious amounts when visiting Brookflow.

It was very cool to receive a post card from her also because when you read it, it was as if you were sitting right there with her enjoying a conversation. She could be telling you about how Suzanne was in the kitchen baking bread, Vern opening the pool or any of Suzanne’s kids or grandkids who were there at Brookflow having a good time! She also loved the marvels of Jehovah’s creation, especially the birds of heaven. When she would include tid bits about sitting and looking at the bird feeders she would always include the particular bird that was feeding and even a little info about it. She was an amazing story teller in her cards and they would always captivate you for that brief amount of time you took to “listen” as she spoke to you. I feel so very fortunate to have been apart of her life and her apart of mine and the beautiful relationships that have spawned as a result. As she’s resting now in the safest place anyone who’s passed can be, Jehovah’s memory, it’s so comforting to know that I’ve not heard the last of that laughter or spoken the last words of our conversation because like her I too hold strong to the promise of seeing her again in the fulfillment of God’s promise of a resurrection.
