Lois A. McCurdy, 86, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses, doctors, and chaplains at the hospital for their dedication and compassion. We extend gratitude beyond measure for the care she received.
Lois was born February 24, 1935, in Bunceton, MO, the daughter of Wallace and Alma Baughman. She graduated from Bunceton High School, Bunceton, MO. In 1953 she moved to Kansas City, MO, and began working in various secretarial positions. She retired in January 2021 from Baker University Overland Park, Kansas. Lois enjoyed helping students achieve and fulfill their career dreams.
Lois enjoyed flower gardening, watching birds, and being with her beloved cat, Murphy. She also enjoyed cooking and was best known by her family for her pineapple upside-down cake.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Carl McCurdy and former husband Fred Whitaker. She is survived by her son Dan (Susan) Whitaker, Raytown, MO; two sister Jenny Windsor Boonville, Mo and Gay (Gary) Scott Charleston, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Edie and Lois Baughman; brother-in-law. Bobby Windsor; and niece, Mary Baughman.
Memorial service to be held at the Kirk Kansas Of City Church 11430 Wornall Road Kansas City, MO 64114 on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.
