Having been baptized and raised in aChristian background, Lon was church going and attended church regularly.

He was taken ill on Tuesday 26th April 2016 while on a business trip to Mombasa and admitted in the ICU unit of the Agha Khan Hospital, Mombasa. He underwent various extensive treatments with the doctors doing all that they could to better his condition. However despite efforts to treat him, Lon passed on a few minutes to 9.00 am on the morning of Friday 29th April. He passed on while surrounded by family. His son Brian and brother Martin were present. The sun set down on a great life.

The late Lawrence undertook many social activities. He was a great cook and was famed for meals such as ‘munono’ having mastered the art. He travelled vastly and enjoyed music. Most important to him was family and he spent a lot of time in their company. He related with people of all ages.

Lon was caring. He was loving, compassionate, helpful, joyful and family oriented. To know him was to love him. An oasis of calm, he was the life of the crowd, easily being the funniest and most relatable among all. Like a moth to a flame, he drew all to him without much effort. Lon gave us a full dictionary of phrases that could only come from him. He was the king of coining nicknames and would tell a story like it was a movie. For his family Lon always had a smile and a kind word. Most admirable was his strength. He was brave even in times of sickness and not once did he let it bring him down. Not only was he family to us all, he was also a friend. Lon leaves behind a legacy. A legacy of love, brotherhood, family and friendship. Indeed he will be missed. In our hearts and minds, he will live forever.

Rest in peace our beloved, for a race well ran.
