Obituary

Lon C McBride, 64, of Boise, passed away  unexpectedly Sunday evening at his cabin in the woods in Donnelly, Idaho.  He was born in Shawano, Wisconsin on May 9, 1950 to the late Charles and Ramona McBride.  He attended Shawano High School where he met his wife of 47 years,  Julie Spiegel.  They were married and had one son, Rory J.

In 1971, they packed up all their belongings and drove to Fairbanks, Alaska in a Culligan truck.  Lon became a member of the IBEW 1547 electrical workers and often worked on the Alaska  Pipeline or in the oil fields in upper Alaska.  They stayed in Fairbanks for 21 years before moving to Boise in 1992.  Lon continued to work as in electrician through the IBEW in Boise until his retirement.

After retirement, Lon built his dream cabin in the woods near a lake where he enjoyed relaxing and floating on his pontoon boat.  He loved being Irish and visited Ireland in 1983.  Lon also loved golfing and was a avid Green Bay Packer fan. 

He is survived by his wife of 47 years and his best friend for 50 years Julie Spiegel Mcbride,  his son Rory and also his furry friends  Misty, Snickers and Benson.  Other survivors include his brother MJ McBride (Marilyn), 3 sisters,  Kelly McBride Meidam (Mike), Charla McBride Martin (Tim), Terre McBride Retzlaff.  He is also survived by 2 sister and brother in laws,  Sheldon and Penny (Spiegel) Larsen an d Jim and Lynn Spiegel, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his sister Gwen McBride Koeller.
