Lonnie Wayne Currin, 71, a native of Granville County passed away Friday, August 05, 2016 at his home.

He was the son of the late Lonnie Irvin and Lois Riggan Currin. He was a member of Stovall Baptist Church and was chairman of the Deacon Board. He retired as a supervisor with the Department of Transportation after many years of service. He was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Stovall Baptist Church by Rev. Eddie Mauldin. Burial will be in Stovall Memorial Park.

Surviving is his wife of fifty years, Patricia P. Currin of the home, a brother Ronnie Currin and wife Elizabeth of Rolesville, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Greenway.

Visitation will be held Saturday evening August 6, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Stovall Baptist Church, P.O. Box 188, Stovall, N.C. 27582.

Patricia, I am so sorry to hear about Wayne. I know that you will miss him. He was always smiling and had so many kind words to say to everyone. I miss him so much. All of us enjoyed many happy times together. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Love you.

Patricia I am so very sorry to hear about Wayne passing. I wish had moved here sooner and could have known him longer. PATRICA ...THIS WAS SUCH A SHOCK AFTER WE ALL TALKED AT CHURCH LAST SUNDAY...YOU ALL HAVE BEEN NEIGHBORS FOR 39 YEARS WAYNE ALWAYS HAD THAT BIG SMILE ON HIS FACE AND ALWAYS JOKING WITH ME ABOUT SOMETHING..I'M GOING TO MISS HIM ...BUT STOVALL BAPTIST IS REALLY GOING TO MISS HIM HE WAS SO ACTIVE IN CHURCH...HE HAD A BIG PART IN EVERY ACTIVITY IN THE CHURCH..GRAY THOUGHT ALOT OF WAYNE ALSO...
