His Life

Lonzel’s Life

May 3, 2019
Lonzel was the second child born to Betty Welch-Smith and Anderson Smith Jr. in Greenville, MS, they both proceeded him in death.  In 1980, he and his brother Anthony moved to the Maryland area to be raised by his dad and mom, Kay Albury. Lonzel is a graduate of The Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (1990) and The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (1996).

Lonzel dedicates his life to the construction field. He was also an Intermediate Boxer. Lonzel was always kind, gentle and generous.

In 1997, tragedy struck Lonzel, as he was being a Good Samaritan that led to him being shot and stabbed. Miraculously, he fully recovered.

Some would say that it was after that experience he dedicated his life to full-time discipleship. He did not have a pulpit to preach from but as John Wesley would say, “the world was his parish.”

Lonzel was a brother, son, and friend to so many people.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Kay F. Albury. Brother, Jason Smith (Nicole), sister Alexis (Chris). Loving Uncle and Aunt who took care of him in his final days Rev. Eddie Smith (Cassandra), A special Cousin, Tiffany Davis;Mother and father in law, Mr. Roland & Mrs.  Elizabeth Blac, sister in law Joy Black, and a host of very close nieces, family, and friends too numerous to name.
