Mrs. Lorene Adams

Mrs. Minnie Lorene Jones Adams, age 96 of Franklin, Georgia passed away at her home on August 12, 2016 surrounded by family and friends.

She was born in LaGrange, Georgia on July 14, 1920, to the late, William Henry Jones and Eldora Lashley Jones. She married the love of her life, James Earl Adams on July 25, 1936, and they were later blessed with two wonderful sons, Jimmy Earnest Adams, and William Donald Adams. When Mrs. Lorene and Mr. Earl married he was a farmer which he continued throughout their married life. However, as their family grew they both went to work at the Callaway-Milligan-Hillside Mill in LaGrange, Georgia, where she continued to work for more than thirty years, followed by ten years at the Bonnell Manufacturing Company from which she retired in 1985, after ten years of service. She was a longtime member of the Centralhatchee First Baptist Church where she enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of the church members. All through their married years Mrs. Lorene’s enjoyment of raising wonderful vegetables fit right in with Mr. Earl’s love for the farm. Their combined desire to provide healthy, nourishing meals for their family was one of their top priorities. There was nothing that thrilled Mrs. Lorene more than having her children and their families surrounding her while enjoying one of her delicious home grown meals. Their all-time favorite had to be her chicken and dressing, followed by her delicious pound cake for desert! Mrs. Adams was a devoted wife and mother who always put their needs first. Her tremendous work ethic, combined by the love that she constantly showered on them served as a great example to both family and friends as to how one should live their life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who loved and supported her family deeply, and was deeply loved and supported by her them.

She is survived by one son, Jimmy and Betty Jean Adams; daughter-in-law, Janice Adams all of Franklin, GA.; sister, Mary Kennedy of Valley, AL.; brother, Cecil Jones of Opelika, AL.; grandchildren, Anthony Adams, Mark and Denise Adams, Shelia Roberts, Lisa and Mark Tatum, Jamey and Felicia Adams, and Katrina and Scott Knowles; eighteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many adoring nieces and nephews; all of Franklin, GA.

Other than her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one beloved son, Donald Adams; grandson, Donnie Wayne Adams; sisters, Bertha Thomaston and Ruby Simmons; and brothers, Harold, Arthur, and Andrew Jones.

The family would like to thank her dear friends, Azalee Doyle, Margie Cook, Maurice Gibson, Joe Ragsdell, Elizabeth Ivey, Jessee and Doris Bell, Sara Nutt, Eris Walston, Irma Shelnutt, Margaret Laster, and many others who continued to bless and enrich their dear mother and grandmother’s a life to the very end, and all who have prayed or showed any act of kindness through this hard time.
