Lorna was born July 4th 1986 in Denver, Colorado. She was one of four siblings and the oldest of the group. From a young age she took care of her siblings and showed just how amazing of a person she was.
Although Lorna dropped out of high school to take care of her siblings, it never effected her resolve to work towards a career. Where others would have failed, she succeeded! Making more money than her counterparts and working her way up the ladder by sheer effort and dedication. Eventually she became a floral manager in charge of an entire department and doing what she loved; creating. Although creating was at the very heart of who Lorna was, helping people was the soul of it. With this in mind she took a leave of absence to work for the Local 7 Union. Helping people fight for their rights when they had nowhere else to turn. She loved her job.
Lorna also loved to cook and she was good at it. Being able to taste things, adding ingredients as she saw fit, to create something wonderful. Creativity was at the heart of her. She could draw better than most. Crochet and knit every manner of clothing and put together flowers with elegance and grace. To some people makeup is just something you wear but to Lorna it was art. She would spend hours coming up with new and creative makeup ideas and was often asked by others to do so for them at special events; along with floral arrangements of course.
After coming down with what, at the time, seemed like the flu, Lorna went to visit a doctor never expecting the next phone call. July 16th 2019 she was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer and given as little as two weeks to live. Though shaken, her resolve was firm, she was a fighter and this too she would conquer. Through three different I.V. chemos and two different pill chemos Lorna fought and fought, suffering greatly along the way. These treatments ranged from everyday, to every week, to every month. Along with scans, doctor's appointments, and hospital visits; yet she solidered on. Resolved to live as long as she was able. For herself and for her family.
On April 15th 2021 at the age of 34, she lost the battle, passing away peacefully in her sleep. She left behind two small children ages 6 and 9; along with a loving husband. A beautiful person, inside and out, she will always reside within our hearts and never be forgotten. There will never be another Lorna Sexton but her legacy and the memory of the lives she touched will live on.
