Her Life

Lorna June Taraki, 77, of 145 Mill St., died peacefully at her home at 11:35 a.m. Thursday (June 27th, 2013) surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born November 3, 1935, in Walnut, the daughter of Loren and Helen Hoge.

She married Sammeuddin Taraki in 1955. He died in 1980.

She was the loving mother of Maria Jean Majidi (and Abdul Aziz), Lila Lee Galindo (and George), and Rona Michelle Gobar (and Fridoon) and a dedicated grandmother of 11: Zahra Majidi, Bushra Majidi, Ozra Majidi (and Ibrahim), Abdullah Majidi (and Karima), Natalia Galindo (and Abdellatif), Terrance Galindo, Timothy Galindo, Michael Galindo, Anthony Galindo, Sheelah Gobar, and Angelique Gobar. She is survived by 2 sisters: Mary Hoge of New Orleans, LA, and Glenda Hoge Faber of Quincy,IL.

Lorna graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS degree in Home Economics and has resided in Walnut, IL, Kabul, Afghanistan, Boston, MA, and Galesburg, IL. She worked with organizations whose mission was to help people, including MSH in Kabul and Boston, USAID in Kabul and the Illinois Council on Aging. 

She returned to her family in Boston after providing loving care for her aging parents in Galesburg for 17 years. She was an active member of the Fiske Memorial United Methodist Church of Natick, MA and a former member of the Franklin United Methodist Church, Franklin, MA. She was also active in the Aurora No. 9 Chapter of the Eastern Star in Natick. 

Services will be held at the Franklin United Methodist Church, Franklin, MA at 10 am on July 3, 2013. Visitation will be held on July 2, 2013, from 6 to 8pm at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfunweralhomes.com.) 131 Main Street Franklin.

Burial will be in Lake Grove Cemetery, Holliston.
