I'm so sorry Karen. I hope you are surrounded by love and family and anything else you need. The bond between a mother and daughter is different in a very special way. I still often feel frozen in time; not quite able to comprehend how life can be moving forward around me. What a beautiful and vibrant woman she was, and so very loved I see. Love to you and your family.

Losing my mother was undoubtedly the hardest thing that I had to deal with in my life. She was my best friend, my confidant, and the person who understood me better than anybody. I watched cancer take over this bundle of joy and destroy her. While I knew it was only a matter of time before she passed, the FINALITY of losing her was undescribable.
That being said, I would like to offer the following advice to your family during this most difficult time.  Right now lean on the family, friends and other loved ones to help you through it. However the most complicated times are six months, a year or more beyond today. The time when you hear moms favorite song come on the radio or as your decorating the Christmas tree you find an ornament that reminds you of her. Perhaps at the dinner table you find yourself laughing at something that she used to say. Those times when nobody’s around or you don’t expect it, are the most difficult. However - I have learned how to take those moments and welcome them and cherish them. I have come to discover that she is with me now more then when she was when she was alive.
I promise you that these moments will happen for you. Cherish them and let them warm your heart. Let each of those unexpected moments remind you of all of the lovely residual Ways which she has impacted you.  When these moments to occur, share them with your children and other loved ones. Keep her memory alive not that you will have a choice because mothers never, ever, ever go anywhere.
Smile now she tscresting peacefully and now resides in a part of your heart.
