A decade ago we lost you, yet it just doesn't seem possible that so much time has passed. You are always in our thoughts... we still celebrate your birthday, we always find ourselves saying things like "if dad could see this..." or "what would dad say or do about that..." At the holidays, when we celebrate a birthday, you are always with us. I hope you know what an influence you were on so many lives, and I hope we are making you proud - most of the time anyway. So many of your buddies have joined you over these 10 years, and so many more will be joining you in the years to come. The card games and partying up there must be keeping you all very busy. Keep watching over us all, and we will "see you when we see you"... I will always love you.

It’s impossible that 10 years have gone by without you. I first found this site a few years ago and it was hard not to bawl my eyes out. I may not personally know you because you passed when I was young, but I’ve heard many stories. I will forever hold on to those memories and the stories that have been told. It doesn't seem possible that eight years have come and gone without you. Every day I see something, hear something, or am reminded of something that makes me think of you. You don't realize how much a part of your life someone is until they are no longer with you... One by one you are being joined by your piason's, what a party there must be going on up there. Continue to watch over us, and keep sending those signs that help us to know what to do when we are struggling. Love and miss you every day dad - until we meet again.

50 years ago myself and a couple guys who worked with Louie would stop at Frank Mercandante's Ox Bow where Lou was working part time. 15 cent drafts and a lot of laughs. Great times we had and the beginning of a long friendship.

You have quite a family and they all miss you but know you are in Heaven. I'm convinced we will all meet again for one huge gathering.
One thing you could do (if they let you) is to fix those slots so they pay off for your wife. I'm sure she'll thank you when you meet again!

I can't believe it's been 5 years. You are always in my thoughts, prayers and sometimes conversations. It seems like at some point on any given day something I do or hear reminds me of you. It's a good feeling. I love and miss you so much.

Five years ago today we lost you. I can honestly say that not a day goes by that I don't think about you, remember something you told me, or wish I could ask for your advice. We have all kept going, and are doing okay, but it has never been the same without you. I imagine you have everyone up there well organized by now, since many of your buddies have joined you. Continue to watch over us, guide us in the right direction, and help us to know which paths to take at every crossroads. Pa, I found your letters you had written to me while I was in boot camp today. It was nice reading what you had to say and the words of encouragement you offered. I was able to go to Iwo Jima this past summer and brought some sand back for grandma. I know you would have loved it and probably would have had a story to tell me about it. I picked up corporal in September and now only have one more promotion until I catch you! I wish you would have gotten the chance to meet your great grandson Parker Louis LaPorto. I kept your name in there and had a son just like I promised you so that I would keet your family name going. Well I've taken up enough of your wall so I'm going to get going now. I have so many fond memories of Louie, both on a political and personal level. He had an opinion on everything! But, a couple things he used to say stayed with me to this day, which were "Never lose a friend over politics" and "Never put politics before your family." I'll always love him and miss him, he was one of a kind, and clearly loved his family and friends...

Louie my life long friend (the brother I never Had) you were always there for me through the good and the bad I will miss and love you always please take care of Lenny and Michael.

Louie grew up in Hartford with my husband, Ed Kelly. He spoke of him often and I'm sure will be glad to include him now in all the card games in heaven. He has joined a childhood friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Saturday night, we're at a basketball game and someone asks "who was that big guy who bartended at the Ox Bow? I think he was a steam-fitter?" I knew right away it was Louie----that was back in late '60's and I saw him throughout the years, he was always the same great guy--a big man with a big heart. Shocked to read yesterday's obit---you'll have great memories of him.. RIP, Louie.

Dear LaPorto family- I was so very sorry to hear of your loss.
Louie was such a great friend to my dad for so many years (since they were kids) and I know he will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
