Born Tuesday, April 14, 1914, in Chambers County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Nancy Daniel Morgan and Malvern C. Morgan, Sr., Mrs. Kent was a native of Lanett. She graduated from Lanett High and Southern Business College in Atlanta. She retired from West Point Pepperell after working thirty eight years. Mrs. Kent was an active member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, a member of the Martha Sunday Scholl class and had been a long time member of First Baptist Church of Lanett. She was also a member of the Southern Cross Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mr. Kent was involved for many years with the Girls Scouts of America. She achieved the rank of Golden Eaglet, the highest honor a girl could receive, being the first in Lanett to receive this honor. She was a troop leader and served on the Valley Girl Scout Council for many years.

Survivors include her son James Mailon Kent, Jr.; her grandson Mailon Kent III and great grandson Mailon Thomas Kent; two nieces Judith Morgan Brown and Nancy Morgan Waldrep and many great nieces and great nephews. Her husband of forty nine years, James Mailon Kent, Sr., her brothers Jessie Willie Morgan and Malvern Morgan, and sister Mary Elizabeth Morgan preceded her in death.
