FLORIO, FLORENCE A. (OHSBERG) age 84, of Cranston, and formerly of Warwick, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014. She was the wife of the late John D. Florio, Sr. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Goddard) Ohsberg, she lived in Warwick for fifty-four years before moving to Cranston five years ago. Florence was employed for many years at Sammartino Diamonds. She was the beloved mother of Linda Florio Tavares,  Diane Florio Penza, Edward J. Florio, Sr., and the late John D. Florio, Jr., and the dear sister of Edward Ohsberg and the late Eleanor Harrington, Margaret Martini, Mary Sullivan, and Hazel Quirk. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren one being her beloved grandson Nicolas Tavares who lived with her for about 11 years. Florence was the life-long friend of Helene Gordon, whom she met in kindergarten. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 3, at 10 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited, and may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 9-10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence's memory may be made to the imPOSSIBLE DREAM (which was founded by her late husband, John), 575 Centerville Road, Warwick, RI 02886.
