were growing up. What a special man he was.
I promise that I will help keep the memory of you alive. You may have left us bodily, but your spirit will live on in your children! I know that you are now looking down from heaven and smiling upon all of us that knew you well and loved you. We miss you!

I did not realize how much I would miss you until now.
Now that you are no longer with us, I can no longer ask you for advice when I am troubled. If there is a heaven, you ARE in heaven . You earned your place there....I can only hope to have been as good a father as you were to us. Thank you dad for all you have done for me, Linda, Dean and Bill. We love you!
Your youngest son, Jim
I will often add: "Bless the cooks, the eaters, and the dishwashers!" to suppertime grace.
You also used to say: "I'm gonna get your sugar little girl" and smother us with kisses and hugs.
You prompted me to take up lifeguarding, to avoid smoking, to start my first Roth IRA, and eat figs!
Beacause of YOU...my world was a little more wonderful!
Miss you!
I want to thank you for setting up this very thoughtful website for your grandad. It was so sweet of you. This way, many more friends and family will be able to share in the memories of his passing. God bless you.
Love, your favorite uncle (haa haa) Jim

You are in my prayers.
Thank you Rachel for this website.
One of the pictures looks exactly like I remember Dean.

Albert Einstein once said, “Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life.” So let us celebrate Granddad’s life and continue his legacy.

Restoration of Loy's U of GA class ring
It gives me great pleasure in displaying my father's University of Georgia class of '42 ring (now restored). I saw the ring for the first time at our gathering in September '10. The center stone was missing....actually broken out of the ring casting and the ring overall needed some restoration and polishing. It took the power of a microscope at my Jeweler to read the mfr's name on the inside of the band! Loy's engraved initials "L A E" were still visable to the naked eye. Restoration was performed by the Herff Jones Company (the original manfacturer, still in business). The stone shown most likely represents what was originally set in the finished casting , as I did some research. None of the photos of Loy from many years ago show the detail of the ring's stone. I hope that all of you enjoy viewing it (there are two other photos in the gallery). I know that Loy is smiling from above, knowing that his ring has been restored for all of you to view ...........likely for the first time ever. Why you might ask? ........because he often spoke with great pride of his University of Georgia, all during his lifetime. This is for you dad! You will always live on in our hearts!
Love, Jim
If dad could say something now......
I think that if my dad could leave any last words to all of us it might go like this:
"I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one....... I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done...... I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways..... Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days...... I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun...... Of happy memories that I leave...... When life is done...... I will miss you all!"
To my dearest dad.....I think about you often, each and every day......I miss you more that you could ever know.....but I know that you have gone to a better place. You will live on in our hearts!
Love, Jim
