Hi Mom,

Today marks 100 years since you were born. I still miss you, but know you are in a better place. I am 75 years old now, and in relatively good heath, just a bit of numbness in my toes. Kelly got maried on July 1st in Newport, R.I., which you probably already knew. I do more praying than I used to do and am reading more religious literature. Love you and take care. as Always, you loving son, Don.

Hi Mom,

I can't believe it has been ten years since went to heaven. You are still missed, but you must have company in heaven with other relatives, as I am now the oldest Carlson of our family on earth. As I write this the clock is changing to April 1st, 2022. I still use that three color red blanket you made when I need a cover in my chair. Life was simpler when I was younger, but that is the way it is. Love you and miss you, you son Don.

I’m so thankful for the blankets that Lu knitted; for the memories of her when I use them. What a special gift. One of them is quite worn and in need of repair. I am reluctant to give it up. Lu, one of the sweetest people I have ever met. ❤️

It’s your birthday as I remember you in the year 2020.  With this COVID-19 virus, life has changed for all of us, some of it not for the better, but you know I am very resilient. Miss you, love, your son Don

Hi Ma,

Its been over three years since you went to heaven. I truly believe you are looking over my shoulder all the time. I think you know I joined a Born Again Christian Church last Christmas Sunday, and am still active with the WMOS. I stay quite busy with fixing up things in my home, besides my responsibilities with WMOS. I am very seldom lonely, but will always miss you

Hi Ma, today is your birthday. I also find it hard to believe it has been over two years since you passing. As I told you in my continuous letter, my home I consider our home, for many reasons. I still plan on planting a small flower garden inyour memory. Miss you and will always love you. Your dedicated son, Don. Thank you for being the mother that you were, guiding me, but allowing me to make my own decisions and live with consequences.

"HiMa, Today is your 91st birthday. Hope all is well with you, as over the next few days I will plant some snapdragons around the lamp post outside. I call this place the Carlson home, as you helped in the finances. It is a small cape cod house in back of the old Nortons, with four bedrooms. Love you forever and miss you" Your son, Don

Today is your birthday, Ma In your memory I procured a Spathiphyllum plant which like you will live a long time and can be repotted into bigger pots. I miss you, love you, and based upon your request, did not leave you hooked up to a breathing machine. Although tuff for me to say, I told you "It was okay to die", as I knew you were heading for a better place. Happy birthday , Ma.

Lu, I regret not making the time to see you in the last several years. I always thought our meeting again would just happen on its own. Looking back one time stands out for me and that is when me and my former husband visited you and Clarence in your home on the Cape. You made us feel welcomed. We had a great time with the two of you!
You'll be missed by many. God Bless, Pat

Fond memories of family get togethers with the Tillsons and the Carlsons are remembered. We always had great fun as families on the holidays, cook-outs and vacations at the Cape. Lucille, ("Toots") was a great sister and friend to Martha and a wonderful Aunt to Holly and Sharon. She will certainly be missed by our family!

I can see you right now in a beautiful, sparkley dress dancing with Clarence...with colorful flowers singing and smiling all around you. So nice for Steve to have both parents. I will miss your holiday visits and home made cards for me so much. See you soon. xoxoxxo Arlene

Lu, I am so grateful to have known you & to have had you in our lives. You were the sweetheart of the family; always encouraging, positive, accepting. I am grateful for so many good memories that we will keep in our hearts forever. We will miss hearing the "who turned out the yights" story so I may need to take up the charge of retelling it. I will miss your voice, your smile.....you.

This prayer seems written for you, Lu: "I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways of happy times & laughing times & bright & sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done." Love you 4ever
