Missing you onYour Birthday:

You were very kind and thoughtful with a warm and loving heart and when other people needed help, you always played your part.
You're thought of every single day whatever time of year but somehow more than ever now your special day is here.
No present , or flowers can be given and that's really very hard. Each memory is shining bright and treasured dearly, too, but memories can't take the place of someone dear, like you.

I met Sister Lucille at the Covenant SDA church where she visited more than a few times in the early 2000s. I found her to be a woman of strong faith, dignity and grace. She had me lean in attentively to some of her inspiring messages, and caused me to wonder on more than one occasion if the Most High God could ever use me to touch hearts like she touched mine. May she be rewarded by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on that great resurrection morning. Amen .
Let it be so Lord Jesus. Amen.

Family of our dearly beloved Mother Hines! On behalf of my son Trevor Barrett and my daughter Stacy-Ann, please accept our sincerest condolences on the passing of the passing of this dear soul! I met this gem at the Mount Sinai SDA Church in Queens NY where her son Devon and her daughter Pat worshipped. I fell in love with her sweet genuine Christ-like spirit. She was always kind and loving and gracious to me and truly exhibited the Fruit of the Spirit! Family please be comforted in the reality that because of the faithfulness of our Redeemer you will see your Sweet Mom again on that great Getting-Up morning! Until then Farewell Mother Hines! See you in the Morning! I love you all! Stay comforted!

Aunt Cherry and the Hines Family are family maybe not by blood but by choice which makes that bond ever stronger. I loved her playful nature, her fierce spirit and how the family bond solidified even more over time. I will miss her but know that we will see her again in the earth made new. Sending love to the Hines Family, you remain in our thoughts and prayers.

I met Elder Hines when I first visited Eliathah Church in 2010. My hearted sank a little when I knew she would be moving to Port St. Lucie. I missed her testimonies and her infectious smile. Mother Hines was a pillar of the Eliatha church in Tamerac and I loved her much!

Sis Hines was a blessing in my life. The Lord used her to help mould me spiritually. I praise God for her impact in my life. May God comfort the family as we await the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

As her pastor from 2005 to 2011, I found Sis Hines to be an exceptional church member. Her knowledge of the organizational dynamics of the SDA Church was profound. She was also an authentic believer and proponent of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her words and her actions were unwavering. It was quite fitting for her to have become head elder during my tenure as pastor for the Eliathah SDA Church. I found her friendship, her membership, and her stewardship to be unquestionable. Her life was God's gift to us.

To her grieving family, I send my most sincere condolences. If we are faithful as she was, we will see her again.

A very dear friend. Her jokes and laughter will be fondly remembered. Sis. Hines was a prayer warrior and was faithfully lifting my family up in prayer till the end. It is my hope that we will meet again on that glorious resurrection day. To her family, be comforted knowing she was a woman of God who loved and served Him wholeheartedly. She will be missed. ❤️

Sis Hines was my second grandma. My elementary school was on the same street as her house in Coral Springs. Sometimes she would pick me up after school and we would eat toast at her house. I enjoyed spending time with her and I loved looking at her orchids.

My condolences to her children and grandchildren ❤️

Her Life
May 5, 2021
On November 13, 1930 Lucille Maud Hines entered the world in the serene village of  Belvedere, Westmoreland, Jamaica, West Indies.  She was the fourth of six children born to Louise Lawrence and Peter Dayes.

Lucille attended the Kew Park Primary School and then moved to Montego Bay in Jamaica.  Lucille married Ralph GIlrel Hines in 1955.  Lucille supported Ralph as he built his construction business, Safe-T Construction.  During her marriage, Lucille had the opportunity to become a licensed practical nurse and worked for several years as a private duty nurse for Doctor Eldemire and at Montego Bay Hospital.  Lucille later managed the western regional office of the Insurance Company of the West Indies (ICWI) in Montego Bay, Jamaica.  Lucille and Ralph built a warm home for their family on Tucker Avenue in Irwin, St. James where all were welcomed.

In the early 1990s, Lucille migrated to the United States periodically providing nursing care to elderly patients in South Florida.  It was at this time that she started attending the Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist Church where she served as a Bible Worker and Elder.  After her husband Ralph passed away in 1996, Lucille permanently relocated to the United States living in New York for several years and then moving to Coral Springs where she continued her ardent ministry at Maranatha and then Eliathah Seventh-day Adventist Churches.  In 2012, Lucille moved to Port Saint Lucie where she continued her ministry efforts at the Port Saint Lucie Seventh-day Adventist Church.  At each of her churches, she was a beacon of light and a transformational leader.  She was a prolific preacher of God’s word, Sabbath School Superintendent, Children’s Ministry leader, Ordained Elder, First Elder, Prayer Warrior, Women’s Ministry Leader, Counselor, and Friend.

Lucille leaves behind her sister Ina (Tiny) Whittingham; five children, Patricia Grey (Alton), Jean Carey  (Philip), Claudette Giscombe (Bert), Glendon (Doreen), and Devon (Annmarie); thirteen grandchildren: Neil, Erin, Phil Jr, Peter, Kamilah, Omari, Imani, D’anna, Glendon, Kaylee, Devon Jr, Anthony, and Arianna; and five great-grandchildren, Ainsworth Jr., Keegan, Tristen, Marissa and David Marilyn. Lucille also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, god children, cousins, and thousands of church family both here and abroad.

Lucille viewed every minute of every day as an opportunity to minister to everyone and bring people to Jesus.

Let me share with you a sacred memory of Mother Hines:

The year was 1959, which was one of the lowest period of my life’s journey, with the death of my own mother. To complicate matters I was sick with pneumonia in the Montego Bay hospital. It was then that Mother Hines became a part of my life with her motherly care. Her caring visits along with her passionate prayers are still fresh in my memories. But what stands out for me is the inspiration she provided for me to be the pastor I have been for over 50 years. Her prayer life and love for the Holy Scriptures will be the legacy my wife Gloris and I will forever cherish.

The good news is the next face Mother Hines will see, is the Face of Jesus on that great resurrection morning. Together Family and Friends let us plan and prepare to meet her along with Jesus on “that great gettin-up morning”.

L - “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” (John 14:1)

U -  “Unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.” (Malachi 4:2)

C - “Come to me, you who are tired and worried, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

I - “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. (John 11:25)

L - “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:16)

L -  “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.” (Hebrews 10:23)

E- “Eyes can’t see, ears can’t hear and mind can’t imagine what God Has in mind to do for those who love Him.” (2 Corinthians 2:9)
