I met Mrs, Tico through my Mother when I was six when we moved to Santa Barbara in 1961. She had a daughter Terri a year older that I would play with after school sometimes. I soon became in awe at how wonderful she did so many creative things and her sister too. Sewing
and knitting Terri’s Barbie dolls clothes , boxes filled with paper dolls cut out . She baked everything and making us pancakes one day with our initials on them. I looked up to her for her kindness and creative spirit.

Lucille Tico is my best friend from high schools mother. When I would come to Terri's house, as a teenager, Lucille would welcome me with a huge beautiful smile and a twinkle in her eyes,which would take away all my insecurities about myself. Her house was filled with warmth. I felt like my Friend,Terri was actually seen and loved by her mother. Which meant the world to me. When I became a mother of 2 daughters Lucille crocheted 2 beautiful dresses for them to wear to a wedding. I love you Lucille

There are very few people who come into our lives that are as special as Lucille. She defined love, and always made us feel special. Don fondly recalls the happy family times as a young child, especially the Sock Monkey she made for him. Over the years, her personalized one-of-a kind Birthday cards with beautiful letters enclosed, became keepsakes. We still have the pillow she did in needlepoint for our wedding, the stocking she made for Austin, and so many ornaments on our tree that she sent every Christmas, along with the Chex Snack Mix--something we looked forward to every year. Her beautiful smile and happy nature was always warm and comforting. She is the last of a generation of family memories, and we will always remember her with great love. We know God will take good care of her. 

I had the privilege of meeting Cousin Lu working together at First American. What a beautiful and cheerful lady. Always able to see the silver lining, giving the best advice and simply being Lu. I have been the lucky recipient of many handmade birthday and anniversary cards, as well as beautiful crochet Easter eggs and snowflakes that go on my tree every year. I still have the beautiful baby blanket she made for my daughter who is now 28 along with a few things she made for me. Always with love. How blessed was I to share that time with her! I imagine you with Bob and I can see you smiling that beautiful smile. God speed to you Lu, thank you for everything! You will live on in the many happy memories you gave me.

Many, many years ago, late 60s, Lu and I met because of our mutual interest in astrology and metaphysics. We enjoyed so many evenings together doing the craziest things from levitation to meditation. We were even cofounders of a church in Santa Barbara.

Whenever I wanted a beautifully baked snoopy cake Or princess cake, almost any kind of cake actually, Lu to the rescue, my children (who now have grandchildren of their own) loved her and loved her creativity. Need a great baby sitter, daughter Terry was a special one - takes after “Madam Tico”, my special name for her.
Lu never forgot my birthday no matter where we were in life, a personalized hand made beautiful card always arrived…and always on time.
We kept in touch no matter what, our lunches at the Biltmore we’re always special, occasionally we’d ever let Bob join us.
She can never be replaced in my heart. I love you Madam Lulu.

I remember Lu during the Continental Lawyers Title days. She was endlessly cheerful, I could count on her for a big smile when I was having a rough day.  She was extremely professional and competent. She was considered a resource well beyond her job scope. She always had very interesting creative projects going.

In the personal realm, she was gracious and friendly and caring whenever I went to her home. Bright, cheerful, and always willing to offer the bright side to any situation.

Lu, the earth is a little less bright without you. Fly high!
