Luther Russell Morris , 93, a longtime resident of Granville County, passed away, Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at his home.

A native of Granville County, the son of the late Noah and Cora Mangum Morris. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a retired tobacco farmer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday January 7th 2012 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Keith Williams. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Surviving are his wife of seventy-six years, Thelma Bowling Morris of the home, two daughter, Mildred M. Hayes of Creedmoor, Judy Rose M. Stone of Virgilina, Va. three sons, Donnie, Dale and Stevie Morris , all of Rougemont, a sister, Ila Morris Wynn of Oxford, 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, a special niece, Sharon Keatts and caregivers Tammy Champion and Mary Ray. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sara M. McGee, three sons, Calvin, Vaxter and Bobby Morris, two sisters, Ethel Jackson and Lucille Dement, four brothers, Buck, Brodie, Joe, and Ira Morris and two grandsons, Scottie Morris and Randy McGee.

Visitation  9:30-11:00 AM Saturday, January 7th prior to the funeral service at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
 

Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford in charge of arrangements.
