Our beloved Lindy, as we often said, there are times when no or few words are needed -and for me my dear god mom, this is one of those times. You remain in my pocket with our pocket love shared, I see you as mom says "in all things beautiful" and I feel both blessed and honoured to be your family. We love, admire, cherish and remember your effortless grace, your kind heart and magnificent being, always. Your Dans-Pans, Ross, Juliana and Matthew.

A tribute to our dear Lyn

Lyn was a kind, loving and caring person, always ready to help others. She was also brave and strong, constantly finding ‘the positive’ in every situation.

She was fondly called Aunty Lindie by many of her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and affectionately named the ‘Earth Angel’ by many of them. We got to know Lyn or Aunty Lindie as a protective, patient and generous (with her time, love and sincerity) lady when it came to family. No matter what was happening or how she might have been feeling, she always made the time to talk, send a message and listen (really listen to every detail) to you; she had this ability to make you feel that you were the most important person in the world at that moment.

Lindie faced many personal heartaches and traumas throughout her earthly life but her fighting spirit and stubborn Nelson trait (the positive side of this family attribute ) made her believe that a few ‘black spots’ could not and would not derail her from living a positive happy life.

We will remember our dear Lyn and Aunty Lindie as one of the most loyal, empathetic, compassionate and courageous fellow human beings. We will miss you, may you rest in peace our ‘Earthly Angel’.

All or love, Trish, Tracey, Craig, Glenn, Leaine, Meagan, Martin and Kim

Lindy and I met the day before we started high school at Potch Girls High in 1962. We connected immediately and became very good friends and although we lost contact on and off through the years following, we always reconnected again. Lindy was a kind and gentle person. Her courageous journey through her illness was an amazing example of strength and courage and I will always remember her as a very dear and constant friend.

Rob and I met our dear Lindy before she and Peter got married so we have walked a long road together and have so many precious memories, I know that the next visit to the Botanical gardens Lindy will be at our side enjoying the walk to the waterfall and pausing at the Duthie bench. You leave such an empty space and will be so sorely missed. My thoughts are with Peter and the Girls. Much love Moley and Rob

Lynne was warm, gentle and so caring. Even though she has had a long, difficult journey, she has always remained strong and positive. She had a quiet manner but had such an inner strength that I admired. Lynne was part of our family from when our cousin Peter, met her. Her own family was her pride and joy and I know she will be sorely missed. Lynne will be Forever in our hearts. God bless.

I was blessed and honored to spend time with Lynne and her beautiful family. Those memories will always hold a special place in my heart. Lynne had a beautiful spirit, and a love for her family that was admirable. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the Nelson family as you grieve and grow strength from each other, and know that Lynne’s legacy will go on forever.

I was introduced to my sister, Lynne, in 1970. As a 16 year-old foreign exchange student, I was welcomed into the Nelson household and shared a wonderful year with my extended family there that will never be forgotten. Included in those memories is a visit that Lynne made to visit us in the United States (Minnesota) after my return and our trip west to the State of Washington (where sister Jenny now lives). Lynne had a heart that defined love and anyone that had the chance to know her were fortunate. My condolences to the rest of my South African family who, no doubt, feel the same, great sense of loss that I do. I hope to make another trip your way one of these days and, to those of you who I have yet to meet, will save my stories of Lynne until then.

We were very blessed the day you Lynne, married our much loved cousin Peter. Although many miles have separated us, we never lost touch and we appreciated that so much. You Lynne were a beautiful, quite and loving lady, who, possessed enormous strength and gave so much.
May you Peter, Claire, Robyn and your families, draw strength from the knowledge that Lynne is at peace, and slowly regain happiness, recalling and sharing all the wonderful memories you created together.
Our very deepest sympathy and love Colin, Glenys and all our family in Aus.
