Lynn Davis- Pauly

May 25, 2014

My Mom, Lynn Davis- Pauly was born in Brooklyn, raised in Coney Island. She used to tell us stories of her childhood. She went on all the rides at Coney Island. She rode the Cyclone so many times, and had sat in every seat.  She loved growing up in Coney Island.  She went to Lincoln High School -where a lot of famous actors went to including Danny Kaye.

My mom's partents, Ben & Rose Davis split apart and then my grandmother and mom had moved to Oceanside. Her brother Stanley was 6 years older so he was already married when my mom moved to Oceanside, Long Island.  My Mom graduated Oceanside High School in 1956.   My mom met my dad, Bill Pauly on the beach in Island Park, NY.  They were married a few months later.

My Mom & Dad had 3 kids. Michael, Karen, and Kristen.  Life was great! We wet out on my dad's boat quite often. My mother loved going out on the boat. Our favorite memories were going to the boat beach (Short Beach) and going clamming and fishing. My Mom loved being out on the boat!  We would bring home the clams and my dad would steam them. He would fry the fish. It was delicious!

We would also get  Lobster from Jordan's, and also go out to eat to our favorite resturants around Oceanside. Rudy's,  Szechwan East, Palace of Wong, and Ray-noor's were among our favorites.

We also had some great holiday moments!!  Christmas was always filled with joy and lots of presents that we all exchanged. My mom was always thinking of her family. Thanksgiving was awesome with lots of food and Custom Baker's pies.My mom's favorites.

I remember the year I graduated high school my mom & I would hang out togther that summer, and we became very close. We would go swimming in our pool. Then we would get ready to watch our favorite Soap Opera, Another World.  Then we would go clothes shopping - either the malls, or the local shops - BBK Apparel, Mandees, Sandy's, Hit or Miss.  We had such great times. My Mom taught me how to play tennis at Baldwin Park. She was a really good tennis player.

My mom was so talanted. She had many, many talents such as painting, and poetry.  She always kept busy learning new things and taking adult courses at school. She loved Caligraphy, Graphololgy, and Astrology, amongst others. She also took a Medical Course so she can get a job in a medical office.  She loved reading and educating herself.  She loved the game show Jeopardy! She could answer almost every question. She was brilliant!

In 1985 my parents moved down to South Fla. My mom joined a Trivia Group, and dancing groups. She loved to dance and was good at it, and she knew all the latest dances and steps. She enjoyed this the most.

My mom had the best personality! She was sharp as a whip. Funny!! Witty! Her personality was so cute. And she was very pretty!! She was just a beautiful person inside and out.  She was my best friend, my mentor, my rock, my Mom.  She was there for all of us. She was the anchor of the family. She always knew what to do in every situation. She had a very strong mind.  She was a very logical person.  My mom was so much fun to be with.
